Annual and Planned Giving Manager
SUMMARY
Groves Learning Organization seeks a skilled communicator and strong relationship manager to increase and broaden fundraising capacity through annual giving campaigns, planned giving, and donor cultivation. The Annual and Planned Giving Manager is a hybrid position (3 days in, 2 days out). Responsibilities include front-line fundraising and portfolio-building work to enhance our annual fund. Under the Director of Advancement, this role serves as a member of the 5-person Advancement team. They are responsible for collaborating with the team to create and implement a fundraising plan for individual giving, including but not limited to annual giving, planned giving, mid-level giving, donor acquisition, and event planning. They participate in the formal donor identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship program and act as a gift officer in the donor retention and sustainer programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the Director of Advancement to develop and implement a long-range plan to promote and solicit bequests, trusts, and other planned/deferred gifts.
- Develop collaborative relationships with other planned giving and allied professionals, such as financial planners and advisors, attorneys, and bankers from prospect/donor referrals and via local planned giving professional affiliations.
- Manage a portfolio of donors, including qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition.
- Manage the day-to-day efforts of the Groves Annual Fund.
- Direct and implement a comprehensive, year-long annual giving solicitation strategy.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual fund donors.
- Raise revenue necessary to attain the established annual fundraising goals.
- Manage other fundraising campaigns and events (Give to the Max Day, calendar year-end, and fiscal year-end campaigns)
- Build effective relationships with faculty and staff; demonstrate an interest in and support for the organization's mission by being an active community member and attending various activities and events during and after the school day as appropriate.
- Manage a comprehensive donor stewardship and recognition program with the Director of Advancement and the Associate Director of Advancement.
- Together with the Director of Advancement and Associate Director of Advancement, support the strategy for and execution of the annual fundraising Gala.
- Perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by management.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education, Experience and Credentials
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. Master's degree or CFRE preferred.
- Five to seven years minimum related experience in fundraising, with an emphasis on gift planning, annual campaign strategy, and direct solicitation preferred.
- Competence in connecting with multiple generations and diverse types of donors.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Proved skills in innovative, current fundraising strategies with proven success in meeting annual goals.
- Ability to understand the needs and interests of donors in order to develop relationships between them and the school
- Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience calling, conducting face-to-face appointments, managing relationships, and creating and presenting proposals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a variety of people and personalities inside and outside the organization. Able to effectively handle interactions at all levels and to respond appropriately in sensitive situations.
- Able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work in a fast-paced environment. Able to work unsupervised, make decisions independently, and solve problems effectively and creatively. Able to determine priorities, seek assistance when necessary, and complete multiple projects within deadlines.
- Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization, as applicable.
- Strong attention to detail and project management skills encouraged
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet. Raiser's Edge donor database management experience required.
- Able to develop and give presentations to large and small groups of individuals inside and outside the organization. Able to use media software to enhance presentations, as appropriate.
- Able to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Work as an effective and proactive team-player; understand the importance of supporting the organization, students, parents and other employees.
- Understand and maintain confidential nature of student, organization and employee information, including and in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB
Must be able to:
- Hear, speak and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
- Sit at a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer.
- Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use and to review detailed reports and information.
- Stand or sit for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work coordinating events and talking with external visitors, exhibitors, and speakers.
- Work a flexible schedule in order to coordinate and host evening and weekend events.
- Lift materials and training supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Incumbent must be able to use computers, telephones, photocopiers, and related office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is indoors; however, there is exposure to inclement weather when traveling between sites.
