Corporate Giving Director identifies and assesses the causes and organizations that align with the company's values and goals and implements strategic plans to support them. Establishes and maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations and community leaders to ensure effective collaboration and support of giving initiatives. Being a Corporate Giving Director manages the budget for charitable giving, evaluates grant proposals, and monitors the impact of the company's charitable contributions. Develops employee volunteer programs to engage employees, offer participation to wider audience, and raise awareness about the organization's charitable initiatives. Additionally, Corporate Giving Director maintains current knowledge of best practices in corporate giving and philanthropy. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Corporate Giving Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Corporate Giving Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • George Fox University's Advancement department is looking for an individual to join their dynamic team of fundraising professionals to lead their new planned giving program as the Director of Planned Giving. This individual will assist donors in leaving a legacy at George Fox by securing gifts through a variety of gift planning instruments, including bequests, trusts, gift annuities, real estate and other assets.

    The Director of Planned Giving will assist donors in leaving a legacy at George Fox by securing gifts through a variety of gift planning instruments, including bequests, trusts, gift annuities, real estate and other assets.


    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Portfolio Management: Managing a portfolio of 100 gift planning prospect households in the various stages of giving (60%).
    • Program Management: Serving as the planned giving expert on campus, implementing best practices within Advancement and partnering well with other departments to promote thoughtful planned giving (20%).
    • Connection: Building connections throughout the university, understanding the needs of schools and programs. Collaborate and communicate with the Advancement Team regularly regarding school and program funding needs, exciting developments, and talking points with donors (10%).
    • Growth: Seeking to understand more about best practices in your field and demonstrate growth in your expertise and capacity year over year (5%).
    • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
    • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
    • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

    A day in the life of this position:

    The Director of Planned Giving has a dynamic position of managing donor relationships, securing resources for the University, and managing strategy and programming for fundraising that is essential to our mission. They contribute to a thriving culture in our department and throughout the university.


    We're looking for candidates who have:

    • A Bachelor's degree and 5 years successful work experience in fundraising, including gift planning.
    • Previous experience in building relationships with donors, making the ask, and closing gifts at the $25K level.
    • Proven experience in developing strategy to engage donor prospects.
    • In-depth knowledge of and the desire to stay up-to-date on industry standards/changes to applicable tax law implications of charitable planned giving options such as charitable gift annuities, IRA's, trusts, gifts of real property and appreciated assets, and a comfort level speaking with donors regarding complex planned giving vehicles.
    • Proven experience in coaching and/or working with university or professional partners to identify funding priorities, alignment with institutional goals and strategic planning.
    • Well-developed organizational, planning, prioritizing, administrative and presentation skills. Must be self-motivated and driven to the achievement of results. Must have the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at one time and in a busy environment.
    • Proven and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral), and the ability to connect with a wide spectrum of people.
    • Proven experience in effectively contacting, answering queries of, and building relationships with donors, attorneys and financial planners.
    • Professionalism, tact, confidentiality and initiative. Must be upbeat and a team player.
    • The ability to travel locally and nationally up to 50% of the time and work evenings and weekends as necessary.
    • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

    Job information:

    • Hours Per Week: 40 hours (1.0 FTE) - Monday through Friday
    • Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
      • May be required to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
      • Local and national travel is required up to 50% of the time.
    • Working Conditions: Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment
