    Position Title: Director, Corporate Compliance

    Summary:   

    The Director, Corporate Compliance will be responsible for assisting with the implementation and operation of a robust and effective corporate compliance program, employing the elements of an effective compliance program as outlined in the U.S. Federal Sentencing Guidelines and the U.S. Department of Justice Guidance on The Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs.  Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, Senior Counsel, this position will be part of a dynamic Legal/Compliance team.

    The ideal candidate will have strong life sciences healthcare compliance experience working at biotech, biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical company(ies) and be a pivotal member of the compliance team, helping to bring structure, cadence, and operational excellence to multiple compliance processes.  The role will require compliance expertise, critical thinking ability, advanced project management talent, strong communication skills, and the aptitude to learn and absorb new content and navigate ambiguity as the company matures. 

    The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, who is a strategic problem solver, and who is proactive, flexible, detail-oriented, and hands-on. 

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Manage multiple compliance related projects and lead/coordinate cross-functional workgroups to implement organizational compliance priorities.
    • Manage end-to-end state compliance program certifications, declarations and postings.
    • Manage end-to-end process for spend transparency reporting and coordinate and oversee vendors and external resources responsible for spend transparency compliance.
    • Design and implement the compliance training calendar and partner with compliance team members to update and refresh compliance training.
    • Develop training content and deliver training. Work collaboratively with other functions on a company-wide training plan and assist with implementation.
    • Assist in the design of an annual compliance monitoring and auditing plan based on trends, findings and an understanding of the organization’s risks.
    • Audit and monitor organizational activities and processes related to compliance with industry-specific laws and regulations such as fraud and abuse laws, e.g., education grants, sponsorships, consulting arrangements, charitable contributions, and meals.
    • Assist the business by supporting system implementation related to compliance initiatives/areas of authority, implementing pragmatic controls to manage compliance risk, and sharing of industry best practices to support responsible business practices.
    • Assist in fostering a speak-up culture and manage the confidential helpline reporting tool.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Understanding of laws and regulations applicable to life sciences healthcare compliance.
    • Minimum 5 years healthcare compliance experience developing and/or operating within a well-defined compliance program.
    • Experience at clinical-stage biotech or commercial-stage biotech/ biopharmaceutical/ pharmaceutical company(ies) is a plus.
    • Command of current spend transparency compliance requirements, state compliance program registration and filing requirements, and deep knowledge of related regulatory requirements and processes.
    • Ability to contribute to discussions of general business issues, to work well with a wide range of clients, from senior executives to operating personnel, and to work independently as well as to lead a project from conception to completion.
    • General understanding of technology commonly used to support a corporate compliance program in the life sciences industry, including familiarity with spend transparency report filing software, elearning platforms and course editing programs, and document management.
