CopyWriting Manager leads a group of copywriters who write, proofread, and edit content for a variety of projects (including print, web, mobile, video, and social media). Reviews all assignments before publication to ensure material meets style guidelines and brand voice for consistent messaging, and give final approval. Being a CopyWriting Manager creates and designs standards and procedures for team. Acts as advisor to copywriting team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Additionally, CopyWriting Manager is responsible for publication schedule planning and budget control. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The CopyWriting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a CopyWriting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Aligns with the culture and values of Inspire and ensures that creative and copy reflects them.
    • Collaborates with other members of the Brand teams to ensure that broader team goals are met.
    • Analyzes problems, anticipates consequences, and eliminates obstacles to successfully complete projects.
    • Manages and prioritizes projects within timelines for project milestones.
    • Crafts original concepts, execute copy based on established voice/tone, and collaborate with mid- and junior-level writers on copy execution.
    • Partners with the other Associate Creative Directors to concept, write, present, and defend work while addressing client needs.
    • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across the company and agencies to ensure timely deliverables.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure the culture and values of Inspire and brands is reflective in all content created.
    • Collaborate and support other members of the Studio to ensure that broader team goals are met.
    • Provide day to day management and leadership for the copywriting and proofing team.
    • Provide overall creative direction and feedback for your team of writers to create strategic, targeted and on-brand creative.
    • Assign, direct, review, improve and approve creative to ensure its quality, strategic integrity, and appropriate integration.
    • Manage approvals from other ACDs and VP as needed.
    • Contribute to presentations of creative solutions in the form of decks and live presentations.
    • Champion brand positioning at every point of contact and uphold creative standards.
    • Partner with communication and marketing colleagues in focusing and translating business partner needs into smart, measurable creative strategies.
    • Enable development of fresh, compelling creative concepts.
    • Continually refine workflow processes to better meet high-volume and high-quality partner needs.
    • Stay aware of major cross-brand initiatives and programs foreseeing changing needs.
    • Continually build and mentor/access creative talent on the team.
    • Continually develop the skillsets, expertise, and portfolio of Maverick Studios.
    • Along with the other ACD’s, lead the collaboration between copy and design withing creative services.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

    • 4-year degree or equivalent Graphic Design/Copywriting/Strategy/Art/Advertising degree combined with a promising portfolio of work, appropriate for the level of experience and opportunity one has had to date in this field.
    • Minimum 10 years of cDG1 copywriting and general multi-disciplinary creative leadership responsibility at a digital, marketing or communications agency (or equivalent corporate, in-house setting). Experience working with and/or for large national and global brands across a wide array of media, formats, platforms, and mediums including print, broadcast, digital/mobile/social, POP, outdoor and events/displays, video (restaurant, food and beverage brands a plus).

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES

    • Patience, grace, and empathy for others.
    • A builder and a leader, who understands that to affect change, you must be that change.
    • Expert level knowledge of a wide array of media, including print, broadcast, online, social, outdoor, environmental, and event.
    • Experience working on multiple brands concurrently, and effectively apply best practices from one to another and understanding the nuances of each.
    • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills through writing, creativity, and collaboration with teams of diverse backgrounds, skillsets, and expertise.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent concept presentation skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, and the confidence plus ability to advocate for doing the right thing for yourself, the team, the company, the brands, and the work.
    • Experience and ability to lead the work, and when necessary, step in as an individual contributor.
