Job Description
The purpose of this job is to provide programmatic and administrative support for the 4-H youth development program in Greensville County and the City of Emporia, Virginia.
This position works under close supervision of the 4-H Extension Agent and Unit Coordinator according to set procedures.
This is a part-time, position; limited to 28 hours per week, where the number of hours worked can be amended to meet seasonal needs of the Greensville / Emporia 4-H program.
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. The supervising Extension Agent may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Primarily assists in planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of various trainings, programs, and activities of the 4-H program including after-school programs, in-school programs, clubs, camps, and workshops.
Attends 4-H Junior Summer Camp and other overnight or weekend 4-H duties as assigned. Assists in updating and maintaining 4-H Online and general enrollment.
Assists with greeting visitors, citizens and customers; provides information; assists the public with the completion of records, applications, etc.
Handles inquiries from the general public, in person or by telephone; forwards calls to or inquiries to appropriate Extension faculty and staff.
Maintains and updates the 4-H program social media accounts on a regular basis. Assists in public relations activities that help expand the promotion and public awareness of Virginia Cooperative Extension services and programs through the use of social media and periodic newsletters.
Assists with the recruitment and management of volunteers. Performs related work as required.
Required Qualifications
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by six (6) months of customer service, general office assistance or youth development experience;
or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to complete the above duties and responsibilities.
