Summary: The Parent Resource Center Assistant Coordinator will work at the office in the Ivy Creek School to assist the Parent Resource Center Coordinator with the planning and presentation of educational events for families of students in special education, as well as gathering and disseminating information on local resources to support all areas of special education. The Assistant Coordinator will receive training on multiple aspects of special education services in the Piedmont Regional Education Program service area, to include the school divisions of Albemarle County, Charlottesville City, Fluvanna County, Greene County, Louisa County, Madison County, Nelson County, and Orange County.

Job Duties: Assist in the planning and coordinating of Parent Resource Center (PRC) events by developing marketing materials, setting up RSVP forms, and promoting the events. Duties of the position include:

• Assist in planning, promoting, and hosting parent education workshops

• Create workshop and event materials

• Answer phone

• Assist at school division events

• Update/Maintain PRC library

• Create and maintain bulletin boards at ICS

• Research community supports and activities

• Assist in developing and designing various informational and promotional materials and publications about the PRC.

• Support the creation, editing, and distribution of monthly e-newsletters.

• Work with the PRC Coordinator to increase Family Engagement throughout eight local school divisions.

• Be available to work an average of 20 hours per week, with occasional evening or Saturday events. Work schedule is somewhat flexible within the functional hours of the Parent Resource Center (8am to 4pm).

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Some experience or knowledge of disabilities and special education

Strong communication skills, both oral and written communication

Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, and Google Drive

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Excellent time management skills and ability to meet critical deadlines

Compensation: This is a 20 hour per week position. Compensation range is $17.00 - $32.00 per hour and is based on experience. There are no benefits associated with this position.
