Farmingdale State College is seeking a candidate to provide administrative support to the Director of the Honors Program. Working closely with the Director of the Honors Program, the staff assistant will work with administrators, faculty, staff, and offices across the College to foster and support the success of the Honors Program and its students.

Duties:

• Closely track and monitor student progress, including organizing and maintaining records of student flex points and other student activity toward completion of Honors Program requirements.
• Assure that Honors Program students receive appropriate guidance and support by sustaining partnerships with other individuals and offices (department chairs, faculty, tutoring center, writing center, disabilities services, financial aid, student affairs, athletics, veterans affairs, etc.)
• Assist with managing the Admissions and Acceptance process.
• Provide administrative support to the Director in areas such as academic advising and course registration.
• Assist with setting up social and academic community building activities.
• Support the planning of events dedicated to student readiness for applied learning and community engagement opportunities both on and off campus.
• Prepare and support the development of Honors Program materials.
• Organize and compile data for annual reporting.
• Support the budget planning process for the program.
• Maintain a schedule of events, and schedule meetings.
• Attend Honors Faculty Council meetings and record minutes.
• Oversee purchasing and perform monthly reconciliations and budget analysis.
• Provide support during recruitment events such as Open House, Admitted Student Days, Summer Orientation and extended registration dates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Exceptional verbal, written, listening and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity with any student and course information software and degree audit tool (such as Banner and Degree Works).
• Experience serving as an academic advisor or counselor in Higher Education.
• Experience working in an administrative and/or academic setting.
• Experience working with individuals and offices that serve students.
• Experience in program assessment and evaluation.
• Experience counseling college students 1:1, assessing needs and offering guidance.
• Excellent record keeping skills (using computer systems) and experience with digital sharing/cloud management.
• Experience with procurement systems, vendor sourcing, Microsoft Word/Outlook/Excel.
• Graduate of Farmingdale State College.

This is a full-time UUP position.

• For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, October 26, 2023 and ending Wednesday, November 8, 2023, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

• Salary: $50,000 $3,026 in downstate location pay = $53,026 Total Annual Compensation.
