The Instrument and Electrical Engineer will create and develop designs by analyzing a technical problem, field checking and specifying applicable equipment and developing cost and scheduling estimates. Position Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
2. A minimum of 5 years related experience in a chemical manufacturing, refining, or oil and gas related industry is preferred.
3. Experience with Front End Loading (FEL) engineering process and Management of Change (MOC) preferred.
4. Must be able to enter plant operating sites utilizing ladders and platforms in excess of 100 feet, entering confined spaces, utilizing all required personal protective equipment.
5. Ability and willingness to work alternative schedules on a short-term basis to support 24-hour/7 day per week operations, particularly during process unit startups, shutdowns, upsets, and troubleshooting critical equipment.
6. Strong leadership, interpersonal and effective team skills.
7. Good general knowledge of PC software applications, including Microsoft Suite and able to utilize an electronic maintenance management software.
8. Works in a safe manner that promotes EHS goals of the plant and the company.
9. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
10. Capable of handling several projects and support activities simultaneously. 11. Previous experience in a technical role with vast expertise in instrumentation and electrical system reliability, troubleshooting and design preferred.
12. Working knowledge of medium voltage (5-15kV) and low voltage electrical equipment, including switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, etc. preferred.
13. Working knowledge of process instrumentation, valves, and analytical equipment preferred.
14. Working knowledge of industry codes & standards, including NFPA, API, IEEE, NEMA, UL, ANSI, etc. preferred.
15. Working knowledge of control systems including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), historians and advanced process control functions is a plus but not required.
