    Job Summary

    Under the direction of the E&I Manager, assist, direct or train workers to install, maintain, or repair process instrumentation, equipment, or fixtures. Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes. Lead instrumentation projects around the plant and work with Engineering, Maintenance, Refinery and Boiler Room to ensure 24-7 operations. Troubleshoot complex process instrumentation issues with the ability to shift focus to changing priorities. Create and update logic & electrical diagrams, instrument spec sheets, calibration records, etc.

     

     

    Areas of Responsibility

     

    • Perform preventive maintenance
    • Responsible for job site and equipment care
    • Trace and verify process lines to ensure safety of systems prior to work starting (LOTO)
    • Inspect and test components of instrumentation systems including control valves, RTDs, thermocouples, flow meters, differential pressure, switches, transmitters, etc.
    • Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturers installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
    • Estimate materials for repairs and installations
    • Interface with vendors to order replacement parts and instruments
    • Utilize E-Maintenance software to manage active and historical work orders
    • Troubleshoot, repair, and PM a wide variety of control valves (sliding stem, v-ball, butterfly, block)
    • Troubleshoot, repair, and PM positioners, pneumatic and electric actuators
    • Modify a basic logic diagram i.e. know how to find logics and understand how to troubleshoot them
    • Troubleshoot and with additional training repair Honeywell TDC system problems i.e. ability to restart Experion after a loss of power, identify HPM IOP issues, detail a point and locate which FTA a point goes
    • Troubleshoot and repair Allen-Bradley & Honeywell PLC system problems i.e. ability to clear rack faults, remove and install I/O cards, identify a faulty card/blown output fuses, troubleshoot a ladder logic, change descriptors, edit a rung and add a bridge, force a bit, identify a PLC address
    • Upload a project to a PLC
    • Obtain a good working knowledge of unit operations; all the systems in the refinery and their purpose, BOHO, Steam
    • Turbine Generator, wastewater, logistics, extensive involvement in maintaining operations of the CHP, extensive involvement in maintaining operations of the CE and B&W burner operations
    • Perform other duties as assigned

     

     

     

    Formal Education/Certification Requirements

    • High School Graduate/GED
    • Previous instrument & controls experience
    • 3-5 years related work experience

     

     

    Special Skills

    • Ability to read Blueprints
    • Technology Skills: Office suite software – Microsoft Office, Spreadsheet software – Excel, ERP software- SAP, CMMS – E-Maintenance

    Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

    • Tasks performed are exposed to all weather conditions
    • Require the usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and may take place in confined spaces
    • Duties involve frequent walking, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching, and carrying objects up to 50lbs.
    • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
    • Climb stairs and ladders to heights of 120 feet
    • Turn valves, move handles, work overhead
    • Comfortable working in a dirty environment
    • Support company’s annual shutdown
