MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides support for grant and contract negotiations, review, and routing, managing the entire workflow from intake to contract execution.
- Negotiate mid-level to more complex research agreements.
- Communicate with researchers to advise of status, progress, and issues with processing.
- Collect and assemble various budget and financial documents required in response to contract solicitations and re-competition efforts; prepare budgetary workbooks; and prepare supporting documentation, business proposals, and justifications.
- Prepares grants and effort allocation summaries for Principal Investigators and meets with them to support the transition to active study management with the post award team.
- Helps support developing reports and metrics on AARI activities, as needed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- License/Registration/Certification Required: None Required.
- Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field.
- Experience Required: Requires 3 years of experience within research-intensive environments and supporting highly productive and motivated research faculty and staff, in an academic medical center, university or not-for-profit corporation in the healthcare sector. Experience negotiating healthcare or research-related grant agreements and contracts.
- Advanced knowledge of office software including word processing, database, and internet applications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills to effectively form collaborative relationships and work with staff at a level of the organization
- Advanced knowledge of office software including word processing database, and applications
- Knowledge of legal terminology and contract terms.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret institutional, federal, and non-federal grants and contract guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to understand the significance of various agreement terms in view of the nature of the materials/confidential information to be transferred and proposed research.
- Ability to grasp complex legal and business issues.
- Ability to manage a variety of contracts simultaneously.
