    Description

    Monterey Peninsula College is seeking an outstanding and diverse pool of applicants interested in working in a dynamic and collaborative environment changing to meet the needs of the students, the community, and the state.

    This is an interim position for the projected period beginning May 1, 2023, through April 30, 2025.

    The Interim Director of Continuing and Professional Education reports to the Provost and Vice

    President of Academic Affairs and is responsible for providing visionary leadership for the

    development, implementation, and operations of Monterey Peninsula College's Continuing,

    Community, and Corporate Education program. The program provides fee-based not-for-credit

    courses and programs for personal enrichment; professional conferences; and customized

    workforce training in support of regional economic development needs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide entrepreneurial leadership for the development and implementation of a comprehensive and financially self-sustaining continuing education program that provides lifelong learning opportunities for all ages and corporate education and training program that meets the needs of regional business, industry, and workforce development.

    Develop collaborative partnerships within the College and externally with all segments of the community, education partners, regional business and industry partners; and other organizations;

    Organize and chair the College's Continuing, Community, and Corporate Education
    committee to provide opportunities for input and feedback from campus stakeholders.

    Research and evaluate new course and program proposals; collaborate with Academic Affairs and instructional Divisions to identify new opportunities to complement and support credit course opportunities;

    Generate new contracts for customized workforce training that meet the needs of businesses and public sector employers in the region;

    Recruit and oversee selection of instructors, in cooperation with Academic Affairs and instructional Divisions at the College; approval of instructor contracts; onboarding and support for instructors; and timely compensation;

    Support instructors in developing curriculum and oversee processes to ensure Board approval of courses and programs.

    Oversee processes for enrollment in program courses, programs, conferences, and training opportunities;

    Continually monitor and evaluate offerings for effectiveness at meeting the needs of the community, including enrollment and registration, instructor evaluations, student demand, and student feedback;

    Develop and implement program marketing, advertising, outreach; manage the College's Continuing and Professional Education website;

    Identify and pursue potential grant and external funding opportunities to help support courses and programs;

    Develop, plan, and administer departmental budgets to ensure self-supporting operations; prepare financial reports and perform financial analysis;

    Work with the Vice Presidents of Academic Affairs and Administrative Services to
    establish course and program fees;

    Oversee the purchasing of materials and resources and arrangements for facility use to support continuing education, customized workforce training activities, and other program activities;

    Other Duties

    Attend meetings and serve on college, local and state committees and organizations, as required;

    Hire, train, and supervise staff, including student assistants, to support program needs;

    Perform other related duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Training, Experience and Education: Any combination of education and/or experience, which would demonstrate the possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities listed herein. For example, a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business, Public Services, or equivalent, in a related field and 2-3 years of increasingly responsible recent experience in an educational leadership position and experience in a multicultural, multilingual organization as well as demonstrated experience with managerial responsibilities.

    Diversity:

    Knowledge of: Knowledge of: community colleges; continuing and community education;

    career education and workforce development; K-12 and Adult Education; and/or university

    educational policies and practices. Knowledge of program development, curriculum, instruction, and evaluation; research and evaluation methods; report writing; presentation skills; word processing, spreadsheet and/or database programs as needed to fulfill the requirements of the Job.

    Ability to: Effectively organize, direct and manage, formulate, interpret and administer policy

    and procedures; learn, explain and apply current and new policies, procedures, rules and

    regulations pertaining to community education and corporate training programs; analyze

    situations and make decisions on procedural matters; understand and independently carry out oral and written instructions; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; work

    effectively with all levels of the District (students, faculty, management and staff), governmental representatives, community representatives, and the general public; train, supervise and evaluate staff to ensure efficient, responsive and friendly service to students, faculty, staff and administration; prioritize and schedule work to meet schedules and timelines; maintain security and confidentiality of records and information; accurately and efficiently use a variety of word processing, spreadsheet and/or database programs to create/produce letters, reports, spreadsheets and other documents as needed to fulfill the requirements of the job; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties; demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to and appreciation for, the academic, ethnic, socio-economic, disability and gender diversity of students and staff attending or working on a community college campus.

    PHYSICAL EFFORT / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Light physical effort; occasional standing or walking; periodic handling of lightweight parcels.

    Experience in developing and growing a new program, business, or team

    Demonstrated ability to leverage partnerships and build lasting relationships

    Knowledge of budget management and maintaining budget targets.

    Experience working with community college continuing education programs or similar program

    New employees may begin serving in their assignments only after they are in compliance with current health or vaccination requirements.

    40 hours per week/ 12 months per year
