About This Position

This role centers on optimizing energy schedules and coordinating power transactions within the renewable power sector. Key duties will involve developing real-time energy schedules, monitoring market activity, managing power transactions, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Effective coordination with operations teams is crucial for smooth operations. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Important: This position entails a  rotational hourly schedule, working weekends and holidays. Hourly team will rotate covering 7 days a week from 6 AM- 7PM approximately.

Overview of Department

This position will work within the Origination and Trading team, and will interact with multiple internal and external parties. Reporting to the Senior Director of Trading the successful candidate will work closely with both our ERCOT and CAISO trading teams.

• Scheduling and Coordination: Develop and optimize real-time/hourly energy and ancillary services schedules for power generation, storage, and inter-jurisdictional transactions. Ensuring that assets are dispatched to optimize revenue within a day and follow dispatch signals from the ISOs.
• Modeling: Understand and run optimization models and update energy and ancillary service schedules.
• Market Monitoring: Monitor and coordinate generation and interchange based on contractual obligations and pooling arrangements.
• Power Transactions: Schedule all power bids, offers, purchases, and sales within power markets and with counterparties.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed logs documenting operating information, issues, and relevant data accurately.
• Monitor limits: Ensure compliance with internal limits and requirements, including credit and market exposure limits.
• Coordination with Operations: Ensure Energy Manager and control room are coordinated during real-time .

• Knowledge: Requires understanding of energy trading markets and practices.
• Experience: 0 to 2 years of related experience.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Finance, or a related field.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market data and trends effectively.
• Decision-Making: Make informed decisions based on real-time information and market dynamics.
• Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
• Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and demonstrate flexibility in managing tasks. 

• Mostly sedentary work; using standard office equipment including: a computer, keyboard, and telephone. 
• Position is part of a remote team, with regular electronic and video communication
• Position requires some travel for company-wide meetups: ~4 weeks total through a calendar year. 

• Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 USD or $108,352 - 148,984 CAD base salary with 20-30% annual target bonus
