  • Role Summary:

    The Mortgage & Consumer Loan Processing Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day activities of the loan processing team. This role is responsible for providing leadership support to the team to ensure the overall quality of the Bank's loan documentation. Primary responsibilities include department workload management, collaborating with lenders, assisting with service issue escalations, and ensuring lending practices are sound and in compliance with regulations and legal standards.


    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provides guidance and direction in assigned department operations to ensure the overall quality of the bank's loan documentation, including quality control audits.
    • Ensures equitable distribution of incoming loan requests for processing and directs loan review activities to maintain organized and complete files, offering interpretation assistance as needed.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for new hires as well as ongoing training for existing team members, focusing on loan processing systems, policies, and procedures to ensure a consistent level of competency across the team.
    • Supports lenders' needs to optimize loan growth and customer satisfaction by delivering timely and accurate loan documentation.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive relationship with lenders, ensuring open lines of communication to facilitate smooth loan processing and address any issues promptly.
    • Ensures compliance with regulations and policies to avoid poor examination ratings and monetary fines.
    • Oversees the collection of accurate data for general reporting, including but not limited to HMDA and CRA requirements.
    • Oversee maintenance of accurate pipeline reports to monitor the status of loan applications, ensuring transparency and up-to-date information is available for team members and stakeholders.
    • Continuously evaluates and optimizes loan processing workflows and procedures to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve the customer experience.
    • Engages in continuous professional development, updating knowledge and skills through internal and external training opportunities.
    • Participation in performance assessment discussions for assigned team members may be required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other related field
    • Minimum one year of previous supervisory experience with extensive background in loan processing, team supervision and interpretation of legal requirements affecting banks.
    • Requires the ability to plan and prioritize work, good verbal and written communication skills, make presentations to groups (employees, management and the public), resolve conflicts and work effectively under pressure and deadlines.

    Working Conditions:

    Work is performed in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Frequent mental concentration is necessary for listening and responding to various situations. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds unassisted. Some twisting, bending, and turning is required. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average 40 hours a week. This role may require some unscheduled evening and weekend work. Occasional out-of-town and overnight business travel may be required for training and development purposes.
