Consumer Loan Officer develops and services consumer loans. Interviews loan applicants to determine financing needs and to offer the appropriate loan products and repayment arrangements. Being a Consumer Loan Officer evaluates loan applications and applicant creditworthiness. Once a loan is approved and negotiated, monitors loan payments, and provides customer service to ensure the borrower's questions are answered and needs are met, and that the loan is repaid appropriately. Additionally, Consumer Loan Officer maintains accurate and thorough records, and follows all applicable organizational, state, and federal policies and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. POSITION SUMMARY: The Loan Officer provides a full range of products and services to members with an emphasis on acquiring and expanding member relationships. The individual in this position must have knowledge of financial services and products including consumer lending related products as well as deposit accounts and electronic services. The position requires employee to be able to identify and analyze member needs so that they can appropriately recommend products and services that best match the member needs.
Job Description
1) Provide exceptional loan service to members, including information gathering, assessing member needs, financial counseling, application completion and processing, inform member of the ongoing process and attends/assist in the coordination of the loan closing when needed.
2) Provide excellent member service by returning phone calls promptly, processing updates to loan applications, and following up with the member in a timely manner.
3) Ensure that all member requests are processed accurately, fairly and efficiently.
4) Display sound judgment in underwriting member loan requests and exceptions, seeking and documenting approval exceptions as needed.
5) Ensure that all loan applications are accurate, complete and an appropriate fit for the member. Consistently document member interactions in loan notes in the loan processing system.
6) Understands and adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulations.
7) Takes ownership of job duties as assigned or needed. Participate in assigned projects and training in a meaningful and positive way.
8) Recommends and develops process improvements and procedures to enhance productivity and improve service.
9) Other Duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements: The qualification requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to be successful in this position:
1) A College Degree and at least 1- 3 years’ experience of lending at a financial institution. A High school diploma plus 3-5 years of experience in credit/lending at a financial institution will also be considered in lieu of a college degree. Direct retail lending experience desired.
2) Knowledge of the fundamentals of lending concepts, practices, and procedures.
3) Demonstrated analytical, accurate and critical thinking skills within a retail sales environment.
4) Excellent listening and people skills.
5) Able to work independently, organize and prioritize work.
6) Demonstrated ability to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision
7) Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional member service.
