Consumer Loan Area Manager directs the consumer loan department of a financial institution or other organization. Oversees the research, development, communication, and implementation of consumer lending policies. Being a Consumer Loan Area Manager analyzes lending data to identify risks, trends, and areas for improvement. Ensures lending volume and profit goals are met. Additionally, Consumer Loan Area Manager develops a productive staff with training and coaching. Monitors compliance with federal and state lending regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Consumer Loan Area Manager manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Consumer Loan Area Manager typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Our Area Managers are responsible and accountable for a geographically dispersed group of spaces within our portfolio and this role will look after several of our spaces and some of our upcoming new markets.  The Area Manager will lead and support our Residence Managers to drive forward positive and memorable experiences for our students, as well as setting the future direction for the area. Reporting directly into the Head of Operations, you will drive the overall strategic agenda for the region.

    Responsibilities

    Here's what you'll do:

     

    • Lead and inspire the operational teams to perform across the spaces of your responsibility. Be Ensuring that boundaries are there to be challenged and encourage a bias for action attitude across the teams.
    • Line manage and act as a coach to the Residence Managers within the area, including conducting regular one-to-one’s, appraisals, creating development plans and any other forms of people management that are required.
    • Liaise with student groups and University partners in order to drive the business forward and to manage and maintain productive ongoing relationships.
    • Act as an inspirational lead to the team by exceeding expectations for our residents; oversee the delivery of outstanding customer service by others
    • Be Acting responsible towards others and the planet. Making sure to deliver on our three Pillars to ensure our students live their best life.  YugoEco, YuPro and YuGrow.
    • Ensure that our students live their best life, so that we exceed their expectations and they re-book or refer us to others.
    • Take a commercial approach to managing the residences whilst actively seeking ways to maximise revenue, including summer occupancy and alternative use strategy, and to identify ways to drive greater efficiency and reduce the cost per bed.
    • Be accountable for the delivery of all KPIs of the spaces under your responsibility, including the delivery of income targets in accordance with sales process and standards; regularly monitor performance and take action where necessary.
    • Lead on the annual budget setting process and the budget reforecast for the residences in conjunction with the Assistant Residence Managers.
    • Oversee and support regulatory and compliance issues, as well as managing the financial performance of all spaces within the area.
    • Take responsibility for asset mobilisation of any new residences in the location- to include the set-up of operational costings, people structures, standard operating procedures, recruitment of the teams and coordinating a meaningful onboarding experience in readiness of practical completion.
    • Provide and manage an escalation matrix in the event of an emergency, liaising with any press and responding to investors as appropriate.

    Qualifications

    Here's what you'll need:

     

    • Relevant experience of managing large, multi-site teams in the hospitality industry.
    • Proven financial responsibility including managing forecasts, budgets and P&Ls.
    • Experience of developing a continuous improvement culture.
    • Resilience and adaptability as well as great cultural diversity awareness.
    • Ability to spin lots of plates at once and manage competing priorities.
    • Qualification and/or willingness to undertake training for Carbon Literacy.
    • The role is located in Madrid, so you would need to be in Madrid or willing to relocate.
