    Tectonic's Glastonbury, CT Office is currently seeking interns to assist with structural engineering work and construction inspections and field material sampling and testing. This opportunity provides exposure to a diverse group of A/E/C industry professionals as well as exposure to both office and field work.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Assisting with structural design calculations and details, quantity estimates, detailing and drafting. Assist with non-structural design tasks and field inspections. The intern will also be assisting with reviewing required engineering reports and the collection and analysis of data to prepare designs, which will include site visits.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, and must have completed their Junior year of college;
    • Ability to complete OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health Training within a reasonable period of time following commencement of employment;
    • Ability to review and understand industry standards, plans, and specifications and recognize deficiencies;
    • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, clients, contractors, and inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results;
    • Ability to record project data and complete required field inspection reports and documentation;
    • Requires a valid, clean driver's license and personal vehicle to travel to and within project sites for site inspections.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    While performing the essential functions of this position, it is frequently necessary to:
    • Assume a stationary position,
    • Handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job;
    • Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using Company email and telephone systems;
    • Move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods of time,
    • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections,
    • Good visual skills, including focused depth perception, and
    • Regular daily operations of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.
    Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements, US DOT Regulations, and/or Company policy. The employee may occasionally be required to operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and copy machines. The physical demands described above are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.     PAY RANGE

The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate's work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
    Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 / hour
