Construction Foreman jobs in Rockville, MD

Construction Foreman directly supervises workers' day-to-day work on construction or installation projects. Coordinates subcontractor scheduling and the delivery and placement of on-site materials and equipment as required to execute each project phase. Being a Construction Foreman monitors productivity and work quality to meet schedules and standards. Troubleshoots any issues involving workers, contractors, safety, quality, changes, or processes and expedites solutions. Additionally, Construction Foreman completes or tracks daily time and labor reports. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Construction Foreman supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Construction Foreman typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Foreman Duties and Responsibilities: 
    • Oversee and ensure that all safety rules are always followed at all sites.
    • Produce work schedules per the availability of employees, contractors, and labor laws and monitor crew attendance.
    • Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery, and personnel.
    • Ability to delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew and contractors.
    • Recruit, hire, mentor, manage, and train employees and contractors.
    • Provide adequate resources and staffing to meet safety needs, regulations, best practices, laws, and project schedules.
    • Emphasis on the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment, including training in safety gear, helmets, and procedures.
    • Develop and oversee quality standards on all sites.
    • Monitor and manage project budgets on all sites.
    • Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on-site quickly and amicably.
    • Report project status regularly to supervisors, site engineers, and officials. 

    Foreman Requirements and Qualifications: 
    • US Citizens and Green Card Holders only. Need to pass security clearance to work in secure facilities.  
    • Able to supply appropriate tax and work ready documents.
    • 4 years' experience as a construction foreman.
    • Extensive knowledge of construction best practices, equipment maintenance and use, and OSH guidelines.
    • Understanding of the use and maintenance of electrical and hydraulic systems.
    • Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others.
    • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
    • Ability to communicate and report effectively.
    • Math aptitude and strong problem-solving abilities.
    • Job sites are based in Washington DC, but also in Virginia and Maryland.
    • Fluency in English; Spanish is a plus.
