RJ Kearey Construction rebranding as RJK Construction is a General Contractor building in the Southeast, from West Virginia to Florida, centrally located in North Carolina, Charlotte, primarily working in the Commercial, Multi-family, and Hospitality Markets.

We are looking for an estimator with Multi-Family, Hospitality and Commercial experience in projects ranging from $10m - $100m, ideally self-motivated and passionate about construction and want to make an impact in the construction industry.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Estimator’s primary responsibility is to manage, in collaboration with Estimating and Business Development the timely and accurate processing of budgets and estimates for public bids, negotiated design-build or design-assist projects.
The Estimating Assistant / Preconstruction Coordinator reports directly to the VP of Preconstruction and Estimating.

Requirements:

1. Interact with clients, architects, engineers and local jurisdictions to understand & incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits and costs.

2. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

3. Continually market the company and look for future opportunities to grow the business.

4. Proficient using Excel, Outlook, Word, Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project or Smartsheets, etc.

Expectations:

1. Develop and prepare conceptual estimates with minimal subcontractor assistance using limited preliminary design documents/information.

2. Itemize trade specific scopes and prepare bid packages/

3. Develop subcontract interest in projects and manage the subcontractor RFP process.

4. Qualify and level subcontractors’ proposals according to project specifics.

5. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans & specifications and performing take-offs for select trades.

6. Prepare detailed critical path job schedules.

Ability to maintain the overall critical path/schedule and financial status of multiple projects.

High attention to detail and good verbal and written communication skills.

Candidates need to be highly self-motivated and focused. He or she needs to have experience performing in a busy team environment but should also be comfortable working independently.

Preferred Requirements:

1. Four-year degree from an accredited institution or a combination of higher education and work experience

2. Proficient with AIA documentation (contracts, pay applications, etc)

3. Have a genuine willingness to learn on the job and be flexible to changes.

4. Proficient using Excel, Outlook, Word, Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project or Smartsheets, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
