    Description

    Position Title: Accounting Manager

    Division: Administration

    Reports to: Controller

    FLSA Status: Full-time / Exempt 

    Compensation: $70,000 to $89,600 annually 

    Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30 pm; Evening / weekend work may be needed occasionally.

    Location: This position is 100% in-person, located at 1560 Berger Drive, San Jose, CA 95112. Some presence may be required at our other location at 2650 Senter Road.

    Travel: Local travel may be required up to 10% of the time between the Berger and Senter locations.

    Position Summary:
    Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of San Jose Conservation Corps Charter School, ensuring financial stability and compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and best practices. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Controller and other members of the leadership team.

     

    Job Duties:
    Financial Management Support:

    • Assist the Controller in developing and managing the annual budget in consultation with the leadership team.
    • Collaborate on day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
    • Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial transactions to ensure accurate recording and reporting.
    • Support the preparation and analysis of financial statements, reports, and budgets to provide regular updates to the leadership team and board of directors.
    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to grantors, donors, and regulatory authorities. 
    • Provide support for financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation.

     

    Compliance and Audit:

    • Collaborate with the Controller to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as SJCC CS contract and grant requirements.
    • Assist in coordinating and managing annual financial audits, working closely with external auditors.

     

    Grant and Fund Management:

    • Assist in managing and tracking grants, donations, and restricted funds to ensure proper allocation and reporting.

     

    Team Collaboration:

    • Collaborate effectively with the Controller and a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
    • Support program managers in developing grant budgets and provide financial oversight of grant-funded programs.
    • Assist in conducting regular performance evaluations and providing professional development opportunities.

    Work Environment & Requirements:
    Position may require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires far and near vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The nature of the work may require the incumbent to work outdoors, work at heights, lift, carry and push equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and work evenings, weekends and holidays. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.

This at-will employment relationship can be changed only in a written agreement signed by the staff member and the Executive Director of SJCC CS.

     

    **SJCC CS IS A MANDATORY COVID-19 VACCINATION EMPLOYER**
    All new hires will be required to provide proof of vaccination absent an approved medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. If a new hire is in the process of being vaccinated, their start date may be adjusted to a future date after they have been vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means at it has been at least two weeks since the person has completed the entire recommended initial series of a COVID-19 vaccine.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 3 years of increasingly responsible accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders.
    • 2 years of experience managing personnel or teams.
    • Education - one of the following must apply:
      • High school diploma or GED 3 additional years of experience
      • Associate’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field 2 additional years of experience
      • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field 

     

    Driving Record and Requirements: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates must submit a copy of their DMV driver’s record. The candidate also must possess and continue to maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license and a clean driving record. 

     

    Employment Eligibility: Federal law requires all employees to provide verification of their eligibility to work in the United States. Please be informed that San Jose Conservation Corps Charter School will NOT sponsor, represent, or sign any documents related to visa applications/transfers for H1-B or any other type of visa which requires an employer application.

     

    Medical Verification: State law requires all employees working with youth to provide medical verification of negative tuberculosis test results within the last year. Employees will also be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

     

    Background Check and Fingerprinting: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates will be required to undergo Live Scan Fingerprinting as well as a background check, which includes a state and federal criminal history record check. 

     

    Drug Screen: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates will be required to undergo and pass a 5-panel drug 
    screen.

    • CPA/MBA highly desired
