Being a Conservation Technician may require an associate's degree or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Conservation Technician relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Position Details
Stewards Individual Placements (Stewards) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health. Stewards in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management are seeking an intern who will work closely with the Field Office archaeologist to conduct cultural resource inventories, document archaeological sites, and monitor the condition of significant resources. Project specifics will depend on the projects in which the BLM is assessing during the intern's time with the Bureau. Projects may vary from range improvements, new recreation trails, and landscape restoration. The intern will be trained to perform in-office records searches; conduct in-field archaeological surveys and document archaeological sites to agency standards; post-process field collected data; and synthesize the findings.
