Spirit Maine's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.
Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.
Your Role: As the Quality Configuration Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate and timely reviews of engineering documentation, reports, specifications, and drawings are completed. By doing this, you will be able to determine documentation and material requirements while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, and confirming that engineering orders reflect latest the requirements. You will also be responsible for ensuring the timely release of all data packages confirming all documentation is present. Being the Quality Configuration Manager also means you will be managing a team and work collaboratively with personnel from a variety of departments within Spirit Maine.
Job responsibilities:
- Maintaining Configuration Management (CM) in accordance with contractual requirements, aerospace standards and Spirit policies.
- Evolve, deploy, and implement CM principles, processes, and procedures.
- Apply CM principles including configuration planning, identification, change control, status accounting and auditing with regards to program tasks.
- Mentor, Explain, interpret, and gain cooperation on CM policies, procedures, and practices to staff at all levels.
- Identify and coordinate process changes for CM
- Establish internal developmental configuration and contractual baselines.
- Support Configuration Management Strategies and Policies within Supply Chain and Program Management
- Identify and eliminate non-value added configuration management processes.
- Deploy, implement, and provide oversight of Configuration Control Board.
- Support Industry 4.0 transition with a unique security focus
- Deploy, implement, and provide oversight of Change Control policies and procedures.
- Interface with personnel from Program Management, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Technical Development, and Operations to drive a world class Industry 4.0 CM culture.
- Collect and report metrics on ECO and ECN completions, e.g., FPY, TAT, Qty Open
- Track compliance to policies and procedures and resolving / escalating any compliance issues
- Support, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide QMS, LEAN and Automation initiatives, which includes compliance with all safety policies, practices, and procedures;
- Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards.
- Completes all required training
What we need from you:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 10 years of CM work experience or equivalent.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, overtime and handle multiple/detail-oriented tasks.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms.
- Able to complete responsibilities with a sense of urgency and with a professional and quality manner.
- Set a good example of personal integrity and professional work ethic.
- Demonstrated results in communication, resolving conflicts, decisiveness, commitment to company objectives, and establishing motivational work environment.

- Familiar with MIL-HDBK-61 - Configuration Management Guide or similar methods of configuration management and control.
