    Job Duties/Responsibilities Plaster and Concrete Finishers perform skilled interior and exterior

    plastering and concrete finishing in the alteration, maintenance,


    construction, and repair of school facilities for the Maintenance and

    Operations Branch.

    Some of the primary duties that job incumbents will perform require that

    he/she:

    • Mixes or directs the mixing of various types of plaster, mortar, and

    concrete for poured walls and block walls, ceilings, floors, steps, curbs,

    sidewalks, and driveways.

    • Performs interior and exterior lathing.
    • Applies various plaster finishes, such as sand and textured finishes and

    putty coats.

    • Performs or directs such work as tearing away plaster, removing

    concrete work, preparing surfaces, excavating, and making sub-grades

    for concrete.

    • Patches plaster walls and ceilings.
    • Cleans and stores materials and equipment.
    • May set forms for concrete walks and driveways.
    • May perform minor repairs to brickwork and minor reinforcing in

    preparation for concrete work.

    Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent

    educational proficiency.

    EXPERIENCE: Completion of an apprenticeship in plastering or concrete

    finishing or five years of experience assisting with and performing interior

    and exterior plastering or concrete finishing work.

    All employees must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated and must be able to

    provide verification of their vaccination status as part of the hiring and

    onboarding process prior to an official offer of employment to any District

    site; this includes current employees who are being promoted to a new

    job class.

    Desirable Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess broad technical skills and working

    knowledge of:

    • Processes, materials, and mixtures used in preparing and applying

    various types of plaster and concrete finishes

    • Various government ordinances covering the installation of walks,

    curbs, and driveways

    • Methods used in setting up forms for concrete pouring
    • Safety practices related to the trade, including ladder and scaffold

    procedures

    Additionally, we are seeking candidates with a demonstrated ability to:

    • Apply the skills and practices of the trade to varying conditions
    • Detect and repair flaws in plaster and concrete surfaces
    • Determine when plaster bases are in proper condition to receive plaster

    • Develop the skills of assistants through on-the-job training
