Computer Operations Supervisor supervises computer operations, acting as a team resource for guidance and support on complex or unusual issues. Analyzes and records error messages to diagnose issues and works with impacted groups to provide a timely solution. Additionally, Computer Operations Supervisor recommends potential equipment upgrades to improve the capabilities of computer operations. Ensures computer operations activities meet pre-established production targets and maintain operating budgets. May require an associate degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager. The Computer Operations Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Computer Operations Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Summary:

    Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line, a subsidiary of Energy Transfer, is seeking an Operations Supervisor that is a self-motivated individual with a high regard for safety and integrity. This individual will oversee personnel performing all operations and maintenance activities, while furthering the continual development and strengthening of our safety culture, adherence to all Partnership policies and procedures, and operate within the budget constraints set forth annually by the Partnership. This position is located at the Underground Natural Gas Storage facility located near Waverly, IL, and will report directly to the Operations Manager at Glenarm, IL.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Supervise facility personnel in performing their job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Administer performance reviews for subordinates and administer disciplinary action when warranted.
    • Attend and facilitate Safety meetings and be an active leader in developing and maintaining our desired safety culture.
    • Supervision of facility operations, technical and maintenance activities through the direction of location personnel.
    • Provide guidance to resolve operational problems as required. Work unified with shared service departments to maintain consistency with all areas of business and maximize benefits of all departments.
    • Support of capital and expense projects through project commissioning activities.
    • Ensure equipment reliability and efficiency with the support and use of the preventative maintenance initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and company policies and procedures.
    • Prepare and manage expense budget to operate and maintain the facilities at an appropriate cost and perform budget re-forecasting as appropriate.
    • Knowledgeable of emergency plans and procedures to direct prompt and appropriate action in an event.
    • Knowledgeable of 49 CFR 192 and pipeline/facility construction, maintenance and operation.
    • Provide recommendations for system operational improvements through submission of capital and expense projects as part of the annual budgeting process.
    • Support and assist with all EHS training activities, updates and compliance with EHS policies and procedures.
    • Provide supervisory relief in various areas in the event of a pipeline emergency or business need.

    Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. Requirements for this position are listed below:

    • High School diploma - associate or bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
    • Minimum of 8 years industry experience required for this position.
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
    • Proficient use with Microsoft Office software products.
    • Effective written and verbal communication.
    • Sound mechanical aptitude.
    • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply information in operating and equipment manuals.
    • Knowledgeable of operation and maintenance of desulfurization and dehydration gas treating equipment.

    Working Conditions:

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

    • Exposure to adverse weather.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
    • Physical capabilities of standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders and stairs, stretching, reaching over shoulder height, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
    • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
    • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
    • This position is on call 24x7.
    • Managerial employees must live within 40 miles of their reporting location.
