Leads the operating and monitoring of computer equipment and delegates workflow as necessary. Being a Computer Operations Shift Supervisor uses established procedures to perform routine tasks to maintain computer equipment and its peripherals. Observes peripheral equipment and error messages displayed on the monitor of the terminal to identify faulty output or machine stoppage. Additionally, Computer Operations Shift Supervisor may require an associate degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Responsibilities:
Monitor distribution and collection system activities of various projects
Review equipment needs; monitor maintenance and repair tasks
Monitor staff maintenance activities of the various lift stations, pumps, hydrants, mains and meters throughout the City
Review work in progress or upon completion for efficient work practices
Present various safety training modules to the Public Works staff
Monitor the collection of distribution system data
Determine needs and develop or assist with developing priorities for supplies, equipment and capital projects. Monitor the purchase of materials, supplies, parts, and equipment.
Assist with developing department budgets, represent the department to the City Manager and elected officials
Monitor and track the collection of water distribution system samples
Plan preventative maintenance and coordinate activities with other City departments
Assist in the review of water distribution and collection system projects
The selected candidate for the position will also be required to respond to utility system emergencies at all hours, provide emergency service to assist onsite staff when required, and provide other requested services.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Michigan Water Distribution S-1 Certificate required.
Familiar with MS Office
Supervisory and/or Lead DPW Experience
Knowledge of:
Operations, services, components and activities of a public water distribution and sewer collection systems
Methods and techniques used in distribution and collection system maintenance, on-site work inspections, construction sampling and repair work
Principles and practices of mathematics and report preparation
Modern office equipment including computers, SCADA, supporting word processing and spreadsheet applications and computerized mapping system
Operational characteristics of distribution and collection system materials and equipment
Principles and practices of supervision and training with emphasis on leadership and communication
Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
Occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to water distribution
