CNC Lathe Operator/ Programming Job Responsibilities:

Manufacturing machine parts by programming, setting-up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; abiding by quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
CNC Lathe
- Relevant experience of 5-10 years in setting-up, programming, and running lathe machining centers; capable of making adjustments to the program in terms of cutter comps and tool length offsets
- Ability to read prints, mics, GD&T call outs and understanding of machining tools
- Punctual and ready to work
- Experience running Haas and Hardinge machining centers a plus
CNC OperatorLatheMachinist Job Duties:
- Planning machining by examining work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Organizing stock inventory by assessing stock to determine amount accessible; predicting needed stock; ordering and expediting stock; verifying receipt of stock.
- Programming lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; configuring tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Setting-up mills and lathes by fitting and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
- Loading feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verifying settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
- Maintaining specifications by monitoring drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Ensuring safe operations by following safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintaining equipment by performing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintaining continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Documenting actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Achieving organization goals by taking ownership for achieving new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
