Compliance Director (Banking) manages operations to identify and respond to suspicious activity violating current anti-money laundering (AML) regulations as defined in the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or other governmental anti-terrorist financing programs. Implements oversight systems, interdiction software, and audit processes to perform daily transaction monitoring and identify suspicious activity patterns. Being a Compliance Director (Banking) monitors activity and ensures adherence to Know your Customer (KYC) protocols and regulatory requirements for required filings and reporting. Leads investigations of suspicious activity to pursue corrective actions and ensure completion of required filings. Additionally, Compliance Director (Banking) maintains extensive knowledge of financial regulations, risk management best practices, and changing fraudulent trends to develop and implement appropriate compliance procedures. Delivers compliance training with up-to-date regulatory information and procedures to develop and guide well-informed staff. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May have the Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification. Typically reports to a director. The Compliance Director (Banking) typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compliance Director (Banking) typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     POSITION SUMMARY:

    The System Director - Compliance oversees the South Texas Health System (STHS or facility) compliance program in conformity with the UHS Compliance Program. The System Director - Compliance reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization, and under the direction of the UHS Compliance Department, the System Director shall conduct and/or provide assistance with investigations including, when requested, conducting or participating in the investigation and/or review of compliance-realted reports to the UHS Compliance Disclosure program involving the facility, including the oversight of resolution to any investigate which may involve disciplinary measure against facility employees for instances of noncompliance. The System Director shall conduct training sessions for new hire employees, and at such other times as requested. The System Director conducts quarterly, and more frequently as needed, compliance committee meetings convering STSH BH, Cornerstone Regional Medical Center and South Texas Health System. The System Director shall prepare minutes from those compliance committee meetings within three (3) business days of each meeting and shall share these minutes timely for comment/edit by the Compliance Committee membership to ensure accuracy and completeness. The System Director shall coordinate their duties with the UHS Regional Compliance Officer, UHS Divisional Compliance Officer and the UHS Corporate Compliance Officer, while maintaining a solid line reporting relationship to the Regional Compliance Officer and a dotted line reporting relationship to the CEOs of STHS. The System Director shall focus on assessing and ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies, compliance with STHS and UHS policies and procedures, and assurance that behavior in the organization meets STHS's and Cornerstone Regional Hospital standards of conduct, respectively.


    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Working knowledge of State and Federal Stark and Anti-Kickback statutes.

    2. 5 -8 years of previous compliance and management experience, or highly similar experience.

    3. Good verbal and interpersonal skills in dealing with management and other personnel.

    Requires driving to other campuses.
    Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to UHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Regional/Divisionl/Corporate Compliance Officer as applicable.

    EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

    Bachelors' Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field required, Masters' preferred
