Competitive Pricing Manager assists with the pricing analysis of revenue, market share, capacity, and competitor activity to provide pricing for products, geographies, and market segments aligned with products and sales strategy. Conducts market research and intelligence gathering and recommends pricing targets. Being a Competitive Pricing Manager maintains competitive pricing databases to monitor changes in the marketplace and their impact on new and existing products. Performs analyses to test customer price sensitivity and elasticity. Additionally, Competitive Pricing Manager typically requires a bachelor's degree in business or related discipline. Typically reports to a manager. The Competitive Pricing Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Competitive Pricing Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Description

    The Qavartarvik "Q-Lodge" Hotel doubles a patient housing facility to achieve a profitable operation and provide high-quality services for guests. Located in Bethel, AK, this is a 109-room facility with a full-service restaurant and a 200-seat dining room.

    The Assistant General Manager (AGM) manages and coordinates with the General Manager the many functions of a hotel to achieve a profitable operation and provide high-quality services for guests. The AGM oversees all aspects of the hotel operations including: guest relations, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, finances, team building, and staff development. The AGM must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and demonstrate outstanding leadership. The AGM must be able to delegate responsibilities, organize complex projects, and establish priorities.

    This position will physically be located in Bethel, AK. The successfully hired candidate will live in, or be willing to relocate, to Bethel, AK. Client provided manager housing is provided. Willing to discuss options.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provides the highest quality of service to the customer at all times.
    • Manage and coordinates the activities of assigned hotel staff. Ensure budgeted revenues and profits are achieved.
    • Interpret company policies and provide a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with safety programs and job safety analysis. Ensures adherence to the Guarantee of Fair Treatment policy. Insures all assigned activities comply with sound business practices and all internal and external requirements.
    • Monitors staff training activities to improve efficiency and ensure conformance with standard procedures and practices. Leads, directs and communicates with staff to keep them informed and motivated. Coaches and counsels employees to encourage positive behaviors and correct negative behavior.
    • Handles a wide variety of employee related matters such as general employment issues, paperwork, PAN’s, training, etc.
    • Monitors and resolves various guest service trends and issues. Performs a variety of sales duties and activities.
    • Conducts various property inspections to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Makes sure all assigned equipment is maintained in compliance with service standards. Act as primary contact for vendors for supplies.
    • Handles a variety of food and beverage services and functions.
    • Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all assigned employees are defined and understood. Promotes teamwork and employee morale. Analyze and resolve work problems or assist employees in solving work problems.
    • Consistently demonstrate examples of remarkable skill in structuring assigned activities, management teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, handling of customer needs, decision making, developing employees and shareholders, and solving typical business problems. Facilitates the employment and development of local shareholders.
    • Assists in moving luggage, packages, furniture, etc. which may weigh up to 50 pounds.
    • Other related managerial duties may also be assigned/required.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Qualified candidates will have documented progressive hotel experience with at least four (4) years of management experience in hotels of a similar size and caliber.
    • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years work experience in hotels.
    • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of direct Housekeeping Manager experience.
    • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of direct Front Desk Manager experience.
    • Proficient computer aptitude including knowledge of Microsoft office programs.
    • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three (3) years to qualify for the NMS vehicle insurance policy.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous entry-level or hourly position experience preferred.
    • Preference will be given to those candidates with a 4-year college degree in a field immediately compatible with general hotel operations.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    Weather: Indoor/Outdoor (Occasional exposure to harsh weather conditions); requires work to be done both inside and outside.

    Noise level: Moderate to Loud

    Description of environment: Industrial Hotel setting in a remote Alaska Village.

    Physical requirements: Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

    Travel: Rotational travel to and from Kotzebue, AK for work.
