Compensation and Benefits Manager manages the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures that compensation and benefits programs support the organization's business objectives and meet all legal requirements. Being a Compensation and Benefits Manager develops and manages compensation and benefits budgets. Oversees compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis. Additionally, Compensation and Benefits Manager manages benefits planning and programs including health and welfare, retirement, and work life. May select and manage outsourced providers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation and Benefits Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Compensation and Benefits Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Benefits Program Management and Strategy:

    • Oversees the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
    • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to employee benefits and stays abreast of changes in legislation affecting benefits administration.
    • Evaluates and recommends new benefits programs to enhance the overall employee experience.
    • Manages relationships with external vendors, including benefits providers, ensuring efficient and cost-effective services.
    • Negotiates contracts and agreements with vendors to optimize benefits offerings and control costs.
    • Analyzes benefits data to provide insights and recommendations for decision-making.
    • Generates regular reports for leadership, highlighting key metrics related to benefits programs.

    Compensation Program Management and Strategy:

    • Designs and implements competitive and equitable compensation structures that align with the organization's business objectives.
    • Conducts regular market analyses to ensure the company's compensation packages remain competitive and compliant with industry standards.
    • Collaborates with leadership to develop and communicate clear compensation policies, guidelines, and salary structures.
    • Develops and updates compensation and benefits policies, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.
    • Collaborates with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to employment laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits.
    • Collaborates with HR Business Partners to provide support on compensation matters during employee lifecycle events such as promotions, transfers, and terminations. 
    • Analyzes compensation data to provide insights and recommendations for decision-making.
    • Generates regular reports for leadership, highlighting key metrics related to compensation programs.

    Employee Relations and Education:

    • Addresses and resolves employee inquiries and concerns related to compensation and benefits.
    • Communicates compensation and benefits policies and changes to employees in a clear and transparent manner.
    • Conducts training sessions to educate employees and managers on the organization's compensation and benefits offerings.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional – CCP, Society for Human Resource Management – SHRM, Professional in Human Resources – PHR, Certified Employee Benefit Specialist – CEBS, etc.) is a plus.
    • A minimum of five years experience in compensation and benefits management, with a deep understanding of market trends and regulatory requirements.

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively engaging with employees, executives, and external partners.
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven recommendations.
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and implement compensation and benefits initiatives.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, or other related software.
    • Knowledge of HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and compensation management tools.
    • Familiarity with labor laws and regulations governing compensation and benefits.
    • Able to demonstrate a deep understanding of compensation principles and benefits administration.
    • Able to stay abreast of market trends and take a proactive approach to addressing the evolving needs of both the company and its workforce

    Work Environment:

    • Office environment with some travel required.

    Physical Demands:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Manual dexterity associated with data entry required.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
