Compensation and Benefits Manager manages the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures that compensation and benefits programs support the organization's business objectives and meet all legal requirements. Being a Compensation and Benefits Manager develops and manages compensation and benefits budgets. Oversees compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis. Additionally, Compensation and Benefits Manager manages benefits planning and programs including health and welfare, retirement, and work life. May select and manage outsourced providers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation and Benefits Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Compensation and Benefits Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Assistant Workers' Compensation Examiner, WCB Item #3317

    Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title designated as appropriate for transfer in accordance with Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Transfer eligible titles include but may not be limited to: Office Assistant 2, Office Assistant 2 Calculations, Office Assistant 2 Keyboarding.

    Individuals certified eligible for the 55b/c program under the Governor’s Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55b/c of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. To be considered, you must meet the minimum qualifications and provide a copy of your letter of eligibility with your response.

    Candidates must have a High school diploma or GED AND one year of full-time general office experience*.

    • Qualifying experience: For the purposes of this examination, general office experience includes tasks such as preparing correspondence, reports, statements and other material; operating office equipment; answering telephones; verifying, recording and processing forms and documents such as contracts and requisitions; and performing general clerical duties according to established procedures.

    Duties Description
    Under the direct supervision of the Associate WC Examiner, the Assistant WC Examiner's duties will include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:
    • Respond to stakeholder requests received via telephone, electronically, or work request
    • Verify caller and authenticate using §110a requirements
    • Provide accurate information and solutions to address stakeholder's issues
    • Document details of the call in the case file eliminating redundant calls
    • Use appropriate call handling skills, using professional etiquette, expressing willingness to help the caller
    • Perform Claims update functions and other related duties
    • Process forms received by mail making necessary changes to Claims files and sending work requests
