Compensation and Benefits Manager manages the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures that compensation and benefits programs support the organization's business objectives and meet all legal requirements. Being a Compensation and Benefits Manager develops and manages compensation and benefits budgets. Oversees compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis. Additionally, Compensation and Benefits Manager manages benefits planning and programs including health and welfare, retirement, and work life. May select and manage outsourced providers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation and Benefits Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Compensation and Benefits Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Overview

    The Director of Compensation and Benefits is responsible for leading the development, implementation and ongoing adherence to HEI’s compensation and benefit programs to assist in attracting, retaining, motivating, and rewarding high performance talent. Works closely with the Corporate and Property leadership teams to ensure all compensation and benefit programs are fair, equitable and attractive and support the HEI Loves Culture. This position may be remote with occasional travel required. 

    Responsibilities

    • Communicate, assess, update, and enhance (as necessary) the Company’s compensation and benefits programs considering the needs of all constituents (hourly associates, managers and corporate staff)
    • Regularly conduct internal assessments of HEI’s programs and practices.
    • Effectively lead, develop and mentor the benefit and compensation team.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and enhance reporting processes.
    • Keep apprised of federal, state and local compensation and benefit laws and ever changing regulations to ensure company compliance.
    • Effectively utilize the tools and available market data to analyze current market salary and benefit trends to ensure HEI offers a competitive reward structure across all disciplines.
    • Manage the annual merit planning and market adjustment process (managers and hourly associates).
    • Administer all above property bonus and incentive plans.
    • Consult and collaborate with Human Resources teams on their compensation and benefits needs.
    • Manage relationships with consultants and vendors.
    • Consistently evaluate and manage all benefit programs to ensure alignment with the business strategy, market competitiveness and cost containment.
    • Ensure that all compensation and benefits communications are aligned, easy to understand, accessible to all employees and in line with the overall business strategies they are intended to support.
    • Performs any other job related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Business/hospitality degree or commensurate hospitality experience preferred.
    • Essential prior experience in leading compensation and benefits in a growing business with multiple units throughout the US.
    • 5 years previous experience managing methodologies, policies and practices within the HR, preferably in compensation and/or benefits.
    • Strong business orientation, understanding of hospitality industry and the labor market.
    • High proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
    • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects, supported by resources from internal and external teams.
    • Ability to adapt to changing business needs. Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
    • Knowledge of ERISA, HIPPA, and other regulatory requirements that apply to benefits administration and data management.
    • Knowledge of tax requirements as well as other regulations that apply to compensation, incentive pay and data management.
    • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with and influence the decision making of senior management. Strong project management and prioritization skills. 
    • Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills with a sense of urgency.
    • Must have ability to interact with diverse populations, especially senior leadership.
    • Perform any additional job responsibilities as assigned.
