Compensation and Benefits Director manages the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures that compensation and benefits programs support the organization's business objectives and meet all legal requirements. Being a Compensation and Benefits Director develops and manages compensation and benefits budgets. Oversees compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis. Additionally, Compensation and Benefits Director manages benefits planning and programs including health and welfare, retirement, and work life. May select and manage outsourced providers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Compensation and Benefits Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation and Benefits Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Position Overview:
    The SRHS Benefits and Compensation Coordinator supports the benefit and compensation administrator and the programs outlined in both of those areas at Singing River Health System.  They assist or manage as directed in the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvements of employee benefit programs, retirement programs, and executive payroll administration.  They build effective relationships with employees; serve as the liaison between employees and benefits providers as directed by their supervising manager; provide customer service to include an explanation of benefits, address complex issues, and assist with matters involving sensitive employee information.  The Benefits and Compensation Coordinator acts as direct contact with (and establishes and maintains effective relationships with) insurers, vendors, and brokers for service issues, problem resolution, and technical support.  They assist with the establishment and maintenance of policies, procedures, processes, scheduling, and reporting for the administration of SRHS benefits, retirement, and payroll.  Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

    Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, healthcare administration, or related field preferred or equivalent directly related experience.

    Two (2) years’ experience in health benefits, payroll, retirement programs, and other benefit programs preferred.

    Physical Demands:
    Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area.  Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard copier and 10-key.

    Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.

    Must be able to be active for extended periods without experiencing undue fatigue.  Must be able to work flexible hours.

    Mental Demands:
    Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision-making abilities.  Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.  Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.  Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high-stress levels.  Must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. 
    Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations are required.  Must have strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
    Must demonstrate working knowledge of federal and state legal and tax considerations including retirement plans, HIPAA, COBRA, Healthcare Reform, and other regulatory matters.

    Special Demands:
    Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.  Must possess advanced knowledge and ability to use a computer and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.). Must demonstrate advanced skills in utilizing MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; prefer intermediate skill in utilizing Microsoft Access if requested.
    Work requires the ability to function independently, adapt to workload demands, set priorities, and understand and set goals.  Must possess highly developed organizational, planning and management writing skills. 
    The job requires traveling throughout the SRHS service area – with the employee providing his/her own transportation.  Must have a valid driver’s license.
