Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant

  • Direct Counsel is working with a prominent law firm who is currently seeking an experienced Workers Compensation Legal Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong background in Workers Compensation who would like the flexibility to work from home and work one on one with Attorneys in CA.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Receive and transcribe legal dictation of status reports, conference summaries, settlement disbursement reports, etc
    • Proofread and correct prepared materials for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, syntax, and content
    • Compose routine letters and memoranda using knowledge of work area instructions and guidelines
    • Maintain files, logs, and other information in connection with the work under the control of the assigned attorney
    • Prepare Pre-Trial Conference Statements, settlement documents and Trial exhibits in advance of hearings and depositions as applicable
    • Accurately document and bill for all billable work and tasks according with billing procedures
    • Operate standard office equipment such as copy machines, scanners
    • Receive and place telephone calls

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Legal Secretary in a workers' compensation defense firm required
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Dropbox or other shared cloud storage
    • Skilled typing ability (minimum 75 WPM) as well as strong writing, proofreading, spelling, and grammar skills
    • A1- Law Case Management Software, VTransact, and EAMS are a plus
    • Ability to interact effectively with the public, clients, and employees; maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact; work independently in the absence of specific instruction
