Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Director Global Sales Compensation

    What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

    The Global Sales Compensation Director will play a critical role in brainstorming, creating, and maintaining Sales Compensation Plans for the global sales team. Your prior experience and attention to detail will make you successful as you help bring organization and structure to this role. You will manage all elements of sales compensation, including payroll, onboarding and offboarding, compensation tool setup and maintenance, training sales teams, and troubleshooting and reporting. This is a global role and is responsible for North America and European comp strategy and execution.

    What You Will Be Doing

    Own and Develop:

    • Development of multi-year compensation strategy for the company and deliver on assigned projects.
    • Draft, complete, and implement the Sales compensation plans, quotas, and management by objectives.
    • Analysis of monthly compensation reconciliation process and quarterly bonus payouts.
    • Lead market research and competitive analysis to assist with the assessment, development and implementation of various Company's compensation programs
    • Provide Leadership of annual compensation review and planning process
    • Develop and manage with sales leadership the development and rollout of communication plan of compensation programs
    • Partner with Order Operations and Sales Support to reconcile, correct, and verify payable opportunities

    Manage a Team to:

    • Track new hires and terminations and ensure that sales compensation tools are updated
    • Input and maintain sales quotas into sales compensation tools
    • Track variable compensation changes and update systems accordingly
    • Create and distribute Sales Compensation Plans to all sales employees
    • Troubleshoot data discrepancies to ensure accurate commissions are paid out monthly
    • Coordinate with sales managers to collect necessary compensation documents required for monthly/quarterly payments
    • Submit monthly payroll for North America and Europe sales teams
    • Work with vendor to resolve errors, and create structural enhancements as needed within sales compensation tools
    • Train new sales employees on tools and compensation plan structure

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Minimum 15 years of sales compensation experience
    • Experience working with Executive sales leadership
    • Team player and self-motivated
    • Clearly communicates & set expectations
    • Demonstrates highest level of detail orientation and organizational skills
    • Intermediate Excel knowledge to be able to interpret data and make recommendations
    • Familiarity with Salesforce and comp tools
    • Displays excellent troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills, know when to act quickly
    • Ability to articulate needs for process improvements

    The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $132,500 to $206,750. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
