Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. LA Health Solutions is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Workers Compensation Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the Workers Compensation (WC) process, ensuring the accurate and timely submission of medical data, authorization requests, and supporting documentation to WC insurance companies.
The Workers Compensation Coordinator will collaborate with physicians, attorneys, and other stakeholders to navigate the WC system, address concerns, and facilitate efficient patient care.
Responsibilities :
Prepare and submit medical data and authorization requests to WC insurance companies.
Complete LA state forms 1010s and 1009s with extensive patient documentation, adhering to time restraints and requirements.
Investigate and appeal denied or insufficiently modified approved treatment requests, seeking assistance from physicians when needed.
Work closely with physicians to convey treatment recommendations and medical necessity to WC carriers.
Act as the point of contact for attorneys, addressing questions and concerns related to patient care and WC injuries.
Document all steps of the process comprehensively for internal understanding and reporting.
Demonstrate an understanding of LAWC, Maritime WC, Jones Act WC, Longshoreman WC, and Department of Labor WC processes.
Utilize exceptional organizational skills to manage a high volume of WC cases simultaneously.
Communicate with providers and external physicians to coordinate treatment approvals and follow up on scheduling statuses.
Collect outside medical records as needed, particularly when clinics do not obtain them prior to submitting authorization requests.
Review patient accounts to ensure accurate setup and make corrections when necessary.
Obtain WC information if not provided before the start of treatment.
Serve as the point of contact for patients with WC process concerns or questions.
Possess a general understanding of commonly used treatments and CPT codes for effective communication during authorization requests.
Stay versed in LA state WC guidelines and be aware of changes and their impact on internal processes.
Have a general understanding of legal terminology.
Assist in training coworkers and clinics on WC-related processes and address questions or concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications :
Previous experience in workers' compensation coordination or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of workers' compensation laws and regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software; eClinical Works.
