Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     SUMMARY

    The compensation analyst is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating compensation programs across the organization.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct job analyses to create a thorough understanding of all tasks and activities a job involves.
    • Analyze a company’s compensation structures and policies and implementing improvements.
    • Research employee salaries, benefits, and total rewards in similar roles, organizations, and industries and recommend changes based on findings.
    • Research current market practices, measure the effectiveness of existing plans, evaluate current and future opportunities.
    • Benchmark jobs against data collected and market intelligence to determine competitive compensation for each role.
    • Collect and analyze data from market-based compensation surveys to determine market trends.
    • Collect feedback on compensation-related issues through surveys, one-to-one interviews, and focus groups with employees and managers to document duties, responsibilities, and skills required for each position.
    • Prepare and present reports of job and compensation analysis.
    • Prepare and maintain job classifications and salary scales.
    • Evaluate and implement job analysis tools, techniques, and materials.
    • Plan and communicate best practices for evaluating and compensating employees.
    • Work closely with HR business partners and others within the organization to analyze the impact of a wide range of compensation options.
    • Ensure the organization remains compliant with its compensation policies.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • 5 years of compensation experience.
    • 5 years of HR experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
    • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or a Compensation and Benefits certification

    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

    • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Strong business acumen.
    • Benchmarking and compensation budget modeling expertise.
    • Quantitative and qualitative research methods.
    • Data literacy and analysis.
    • Salary planning and program administration.
    • Job evaluation.
    • Compensation program design.
