performs duties related to GIC and LTD when needed; performs related work as required.
Performs personnel functions for the Department of Correction including providing information to employees, supervisors, and managers regarding the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act, the Commonwealth's Enhanced Family Friendly Policies and Benefits, the Small Necessities Leave Act, Extended Illness Leave Bank, and Military Leave.
Reviews, determines eligibility, and processes requests for leave accurately and in a timely manner. Prepares correspondence for Director, Superintendent and Department Head's signature.
Maintains and updates related databases. Generates standardized reports on leaves as well as specialized reports on request.
Represents the Leave Unit, when necessary, at various internal and external meetings.
Preferred Qualifications :
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.

This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement.

S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph.
The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents.

Qualifications :

Minimum entrance requirements :
Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in personnel work, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions : A Bachelor's degree or higher may be substituted for the required experience.*
Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
