Description
Mary Peltola for Congress seeks Relational and Community Organizers as the backbone of our field program across the state. The primary scope of this role is volunteer recruitment and mobilization, oversight of our Rep’s rep grassroots network program, relationship building with crucial communities across the state, and traditional voter contact ranging from canvasing to phone banking.
Your work will be crucial in determining control of the US House, with this seat being the most Republican-leaning district in the House of Representatives to be held by a Democrat.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:- Recruit, train, and oversee Alaskans interested in mobilizing support for GOTV events in their own communities through our Rep’s Rep program.
- The position will be tasked with relational organizing with key community stakeholders, including but not limited to organized labor, BIPOC communities, including the Alaska Native, African American, Hispanic, and Filipino communities, and young voters.
- Recruit and oversee traditional campaign volunteers in your region and track and report their metrics to the Field Director.
- Work directly with campaign allies and elected endorsers to build out relational organizing networks using NGP VAN Scale to Win and similar applications.
- Canvass communities in your assigned region to draw support and mobilize turnout among critical constituencies.Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience as a Field Organizer, Community Organizer or Super Volunteer, with a preference for those with direct ties to Alaskan communities
- Successful experience organizing in any of the following: minority communities (predominantly Indigenous, African American, Hispanic, and Filipino communities), organized labor, elected official or staffer networks, young people/ students
- Strong follow-up and administration skills
- Demonstrated voter contact abilities either through direct experience in political voter contact or indirectly via customer service in other industries- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Event planning and logistic management background- Proficiency with NGP VAN
- Able to work campaign hours from 10 AM to 8 PM
- This position is an in-person role requiring residency in Alaska or the willingness to relocate from the date of hiring through the duration of employment.
Compensation: $4,000 per month as a full-time W2 employee with insurance
