    Santa Fe Recovery Center is a leading provider of substance use disorder and mental health treatment and education services. We are looking for a full-time Community Engagement Specialist for our Minority Aids Initiative Grant to join our team at our Santa Fe offices.     Summary:

    The MAI Community Engagement Specialist is responsible to increase awareness of the support available through this program to potential external referral sources and clinics. Perform ongoing outreach promoting prevention education initiatives and ongoing client support. An active participant in agency-wide outreach initiatives to ensure the promotion of this project while informing clients of the available assistance. 


    Duties and Responsibilities of the MAI Community Engagement Specialist: (Included but not limited to)

    You'll report to the MAI Coordinator and:

      

    • Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Manager to promote and ensure consistency in outreach activities while increasing outreach and education activities for high-risk populations.
    • Create an outreach strategy in the target counties with outreach to the focus populations.
    • Assist with outreach and engage clients at partner facilities/agencies, providing referral information, support, and education on substance abuse and HIV prevention.
    • Assistance with logistics and preparation for community events; assistance with social media campaigns and other environmental strategies; and guidance on the design and development of campaigns and strategies.
    • Provide expertise and consultation from a culturally focused perspective and possible substance abuse program consumer to the team.
    • Assist team members to identify and understanding culture-wide stigma and discrimination against people with addiction and develop strategies to eliminate stigma within the team.

    Requirements

      

    Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

    1. 1-year experience working on outreach team, street outreach, public relations, public health-related awareness campaigns 
    2. Ability to travel regularly and attend community events
    3. Commitment to driving the mission of the Santa Fe Recovery Center and MAI Grant Program

    Education and Experience:

    1. Bachelor's Degree preferred, Experience with outreach and marketing
    2. Must have a willingness to serve as part of an outreach and education team, with the ability to both offer and receive feedback appropriately
    3. Experience with working with at-risk populations
    4. Valid NM driver’s license and clean driving record (required)
    5. In the case of a recovering person, must have successfully maintained a two (2) year period of uninterrupted abstinence from alcohol and/or drug abuse
