    Position Definition:
    To plan, coordinate, develop, implement and facilitate student support or instructional services for an assigned program in order to attract, retain and support a diverse population of students.

    Distinguishing Characteristics:
    This classification is distinguished from the senior level in that it is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a single program area as opposed to multiple or larger, complex student support or instructional programs.

    Examples of Duties/Essential Functions:
    Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Provides overall direction and guidance to the day-to-day operations, problem solving and decision making regarding an assigned program; implements program policies and directives according to District, federal or State guidelines.
    • Performs administrative support functions in coordinating a student services program.
    • Prepares correspondence, memos and statistical materials; answers phones.
    • Assists in the development, preparation and/or administration of department and program budgets.
    • Maintains and compiles data for statistical reports, student data reports, student records and files, or material requested by the District and State Chancellors Office.
    • Prepares periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
    • Coordinates with other departments and/or external vendors to arrange for support equipment, materials, services or resources for students and orients students in processes or use.
    • Arranges, schedules and assists in development of training programs for faculty, staff and managers to promote access to and increased awareness of available student support services and programs.
    • Assists in development of support programs.
    • Assists with research appropriate to the operation of the program.
    • Reviews applications or other program documents to determine acceptance or make decisions pertaining to program; advises students on issues associated with assigned program; identifies problems and provides advice.
    • Develops and assists in the design and preparation of presentations, written information and other resource materials concerning available college and community services and programs.
    • Assists students with navigating college processes as appropriate for assigned program; assists students in utilizing the services of the college and outside agencies; provides referral to auxiliary resources.
    • Develops and delivers workshops and special programs to provide promote access to and increased awareness of available student support services and programs.
    • Participates in special activities and events as needed.
    • Maintains and monitors payroll records for student assistants.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.



    Minimum Qualifications:
    Education/Experience:
    EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
    Three (3) years of experience performing responsible student services duties in a related college program.

    EDUCATION/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
    Possession of an Associate degree from an accredited college, or the equivalent.

    Knowledge Of:
    • Current policies and regulations related to assigned student services program.
    • Modern office procedures, practices and technology/equipment.
    • Basic understanding of procedures for support services offered by assigned program.
    • General college classroom procedures and requirements.
    • General needs of population of students supported.
    • Philosophy and objectives of students services programs; problems encountered by students supported.
    • General principles and practices of supervision.
    • Modern software applications (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).

    • Design, develop, and implement effective student support services and programs.
    • Understand and carry out verbal or written instructions in an independent manner.
    • Identify and obtain resources and other needed programs and services to meet students academic and vocational needs and objectives.
    • Keyboard with accuracy.
    • Assign work to, oversee, and train student assistants.
    • Gather, prepare and maintain accurate data, records, files and reports.
    • Analyze situations accurately, determine priorities and adopt an effective course of action.
    • Serve as a liaison between students and community or college agencies and services.
    • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and prepare clear and concise technical and statistical reports.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of performing required duties.
    • Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, mental or physical disability, and religious background of all students, faculty and staff, and with all individuals encountered in the performance of required duties.

    • Leadership experience in developing and implementing professional development and learning programs that demonstrate creativity and innovation.
    • Ability to present content in an engaging, accessible manner to faculty, classified professionals, and managers.
    • Strong ability to develop and monitor budgets.
    • Willingness to learn new technology systems and processes. The coordinator will help strengthen the LMC professional development program through a new computer platform for dynamic content delivery.
    • Ability to lead and facilitate working groups and committees and enthusiasm for collaboration and dialogue.
    • Demonstrated commitment to fostering student equity and inclusion, and ability to communicate and work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members of diverse backgrounds, cultures, languages, and abilities.

    Los Medanos College is seeking energetic and dedicated candidates to apply for the position of Program Coordinator for Professional Learning and Development in the Office of Equity and Inclusion and to join a college committed to academic excellence and diversity, equity and inclusion among its faculty, staff, and students.

    About the Department:
    The Office of Equity & Inclusion is a fast-paced and dynamic department at Los Medanos College. This department supports the campus-wide development, implementation, and evaluation of the Student Equity Plan (https:ljwww.losmedanos.edu/equity/plan.aspx} and other success initiatives; oversees Professional Development and Learning initiatives including State Flex obligations, and provides community and campus engagement through a variety of professional development including workshops, the Equity Speaker Series, communities of practice, and conferences.

    About the Position:
    Under the direction of the Dean of Equity and Inclusion, and working closely with cross-campus partners including faculty, managers, learning communities, coordinators, students, and community-based organizations, this position coordinates professional development and learning efforts for the Office of Equity and Inclusion.

    This position leads our campus Professional Development Committee (PDAC) and supports the Local Planning Group (LPG) committee whose focus is on developing, promoting and assessing campus professional learning initiatives and flex activities. The coordinator is instrumental in building connections between stakeholders; in tracking, evaluating and sharing the success of Professional Development efforts; and works collaboratively to align operations with the campus initiatives requiring professional development. This role serves as the primary point of contact for professional development communications and annual FLEX reporting to the State. The coordinator will work collaboratively with campus partners to build a robust professional development plan.

    Additionally, the coordinator is central in efforts of the Equity and Inclusion Office to enhance equity through professional development and learning. The coordinator presents to a variety of constituents from students, classified professionals, managers, faculty and community events. Finally, as a member of the Equity & Inclusion team, this person will provide general support and participation in department events and activities, on campus and off campus, as well as supervises student equity ambassadors as we build office capacity.

    Note: New employees will be placed at the first step which is $5,703.00 per month, second step $5,992.00 per month or third step at $6,295.00 per month (depending upon experience). Based on current salary placement guidelines, all step increases for which an employee becomes eligible shall take place on July 1st of each fiscal year. These increases will occur, on annual basis, until the maximum step of $6,948.00 per month is reached on the salary schedule.
