Community Development Representative implements the economic development lending activities to support or subsidize improvements in the community. Establishes and maintains relationships with groups and organizations in the community to identify lending and other business development opportunities. Being a Community Development Representative develops an understanding of public programs and community needs to ensure effective community outreach and support development. Represents the institution within the community and is a resource for information about products and services that are available. Additionally, Community Development Representative adheres to all operational procedures and complies with Community Reinvestment Act and other regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Community Development Representative occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Position Description
    The HBCU Community Development Action Coalition (HBCU CDAC) promotes, supports, and advocates for historically black colleges and minority-serving institutions (MSIs), community development corporations (CDCs), and the community economic development industry whose work creates wealth, builds healthy and sustainable communities and achieves lasting economic viability. HBCU CDAC fulfills its mission of service to its members working in urban and rural communities through education, resource development, advocacy, networking, and training.

    HBCU CDAC's new Our Money Matters (OMM) financial wellness project is designed to equip HBCU, MSI students, and their surrounding communities with pathways to financial wellness, career opportunities, and community reinvestment focused on entrepreneurship, business development, and homeownership. The OMM Campus & Community Liaison will represent the initiative in targeted campus and community engagements and outreach activities. The individual will work closely with Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Supported Institutions, national and regional partners, local businesses, and nonprofit organizations to drive participation and enrollment in the Our Money Matters initiative. The Liaison must be adept at using various marketing, public relations, and media platforms to ensure links between the Our Money Matters initiative and its participants and stakeholders are current and substantial. To inspire and persuade prospective partners to get involved, the Liaison must be able to communicate effectively about OMM and CDAC, and they must be able to explain the significance of the OMM and CDAC to the partner(s).

    Responsibilities
    The Liaison will partner with Our Money Matters leadership to plan, implement, monitor, and assess financial education, marketing, and public relations strategies that advance the project's mission and goals. The Liaison must have demonstrated the capacity to work autonomously and in a virtual team and successfully utilize technology-driven platforms to execute marketing, support, monitoring, and reporting activities. The Liaison will perform these duties virtually and on-site in academic and community-based settings. Specific projects may include but are not limited to interviewing potential participants, organizing, and executing campus and community educational outreach, providing consultative support to participants including project processing and referrals to address issues of resource scarcity (i.e., food and career clothing), conducting local partnership recruitment drives and supervising volunteers.

    Skills
    The Liaison must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be adept at various media platforms, be team-oriented, technologically proficient with administrative tools and have excellent interpersonal skills. An exceptional candidate must display an ability to be persuasive while also clearly communicating complex ideas in an approachable manner. The Liaison must be adept at tracking and reporting information timely and securely per Our Money Matters operational requirements.
     
     
    Education
    The Liaison position requires 3 years of experience and/or a bachelor’s degree in finance, education, communication, marketing, or a related field. The successful candidate should be familiar with financial literacy/financial education.

    This position will be a remote position with some travel and participation in some virtual and in-person events.
