Community Development Manager manages the economic development lending activities to support or subsidize improvements in the community. Ensures company visibility is established in the area and promotes relationships with groups, agencies, and organizations in the community to identify lending and other business development opportunities. Being a Community Development Manager evaluates the current and future credit needs of the community and develops a strong understanding of the local issues and needs. Actively monitors public programs that support community development initiatives. Additionally, Community Development Manager initiates policy changes or enhancements to ensure compliance with Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and other regulations. Makes recommendations to expand and develop lending programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Community Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Community Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     JOB DESCRIPTION

    GSCDC, a diverse and welcoming non-profit organiztion dedicated to serving those most vulberable in our community, is seeking 2 new members for our Coordinated Entry Team to provide Case Management services to usheltered homeless persons in Hudson County.

    Case Management Team

    • Conducts intakes on new participants at the program site or in the community
    • Engages consumers using Harm Reduction and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
    • Provides comprehensive Case Management services including linkage to emergency shelter and development of a permanent housing plan
    • Educates clients about Mainstream Benefits and other resources in the community and serves as a liaison with other agencies.
    • Establishes linkages with community based organizations and refers clients for appropriate services
    • Escorts clients to appointments as needed
    • Participates in presentations and representation of GSCDC at community events.
    • Participates in staff and case conference meetings.
    • Attends training and community meetings to enhance skills.
    • Fulfills other functions delegated by the Coordinator.

    Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Human Services
    • Demonstrated experience in working with under-served populations.
    • Familiarity and comfort with the harm-reduction model.
    • Ability to observe and assess client status, reactions, and progress.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Ability to maintain a cooperative work environment.
    • Experience working with persons who are homeless, on public entitlements, have mental health and or substance use issues, and/or HIV/AIDS.
    • Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention skills.
    • Bi-lingual preferred
    • Persons with Lived Experience preferred
    • Ability to gain the confidence of clients on a level which will further their success in the program.
    • Valid NJ Drivers License (without violations) and ability to drive agency vehicle (for one position)

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
