Job Summary/Description:
WIFR-TV is accepting applications for an Assignment Editor. We are looking for someone who values connecting with the communities to join our team as our newsroom assignment editor. We value good people, who appreciate and encourage their teammates.
The successful candidate for this position manages the assignment desk to find relevant, compelling news content for digital and linear platforms. They will help determine the stories we will cover and work with reporters, photographers and producers to determine story selection, elements and backup ideas. They will assign crews and manage our field crews' workflow and live logistics. They also keep the team informed of developments throughout the day, as well as listen to scanners, answer phones and emails, research, and vet story pitches. They will be involved in the long-term planning of stories and news events.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism is preferred
• Market knowledge is preferred
• Knowledge of editorial standards, journalism ethics, and media law
• Have superior organizational and communication skills
• Know newsroom and field crew workflow
• Demonstrate excellent leadership and people skills
• Must be able to manage under pressure
• Be able to operate as a team member as well as a team leader
• Be coachable, participate in decision-making, and be flexible in recognizing various points of view
• You must have scheduling flexibility and be willing to work outside of regular business hours, including holidays and weekends
• Valid driver's license and good driving record required
