Communications Editor Supervisor supervises a staff of editors who write, prepare, and review content to be used in company publications. Helps develop, maintain, and implement editorial policies and standards and ensure conformance. Being a Communications Editor Supervisor oversees and reviews the team's work product. Monitors accuracy and ensures documents and materials follow organizational standards and branding. Additionally, Communications Editor Supervisor manages project tasks and timelines. Manages the coordination of production and distribution activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Communications Editor Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Communications Editor Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. KVIA-TV El Paso/Las Cruces – Assignment Editor
This position requires someone with a firm grasp of current events and a working knowledge of broadcast journalism standards and practices, to manage our news gathering efforts.
The person in this position is a primary day-side operational manager in our newsroom, working with our reporters, producers and photographers to ensure effective coverage of all major news stories in the area. You’d be responsible for news content consistent with the station`s brand and market position. You must be extremely organized as you will multitask while managing people and assignments that demand your immediate attention.
Job Description:
* Manage the logistics of news coverage
* Prepare and publish multi-media content on our digital platforms including web, social, and app
* Generate hard news enterprise story ideas and plan for future coverage
* Organize incoming news content (news wires, police radios, news releases, news tips, story ideas from inside the station)
* Communicate with contacts to gather facts and schedule interviews
* Work cooperatively with the news team
* Complete other duties as assignedQualified candidates should:
* Have the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-platform, research-driven newsroom
* Possess critical thinking skills, resourcefulness and be detail oriented
* Demonstrate effective written and oral communication
* Be proficient in Content Management Systems and digital publishing tools
