    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    The Strategic Communications Supervisor reports directly to the Vice President, Marketing & Communications and Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications and develops, executes, and oversees Bayhealth’s internal and external communications strategies while overseeing a team responsible for all communications activities including public relations, media relations, executive communications, internal communications, brand storytelling, health and wellness blogs, social media, internal social media, videography, board of director presentations, etc.

    The Strategic Communications Supervisor provides high-level counsel and sound effective communications practices that further Bayhealth’s mission, its ability to achieve goals outlined in our strategic plan, increase revenue-generating activities, and recruit and retain the highest caliber staff. The lead serves as a thought partner and advisor in successfully communicating messages that engage and inform various stakeholders including presentations to the executive board of directors.

    With oversight of crisis communications, issues management, public relations, and media relations, the Strategic Communications Supervisor partners closely with colleagues across the organization to mitigate risk and protect and/or elevate Bayhealth’s brand and reputation. Experienced in navigating complex healthcare and employee-related topics, the Strategic Communications Supervisor has strong judgement and executive presence; demonstrates superb writing skills and media relations capabilities; and brings a rigorous approach to communications strategy, planning and execution.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    1. Responsible for the strategic planning and execution of internal communications programs that inform and engage Bayhealth employees across all locations and shifts in an efficient and effective manner. Communicates frequently and clearly with a focus on delivering impactful information to the right people at the right time.
    2. Develops a fresh approach to internal communications and partners with c-suite and senior leadership team on communications strategy and delivery to ensure that key messages and initiatives are clearly communicated across teams.
    3. Consistently evaluates the effectiveness of internal communications efforts through surveys and develops necessary plans and programs to increase engagement.
    4. Leads and implements internal initiatives and engagement activities related to larger employee events and activities such as Hospital Week, Nurses Week, award ceremonies, etc.
    5. Manages all C-Suite communications needs including developing the agenda and content for company-wide town halls hosted by the CEO. Ensures the senior leadership team’s priorities and updates are cascaded across teams. Promotes town hall events and ensures engagement and attendance.
    6. Develops and implements weekly manager huddle notes, leader talking points, breaking news alerts, and employee emails. Reviews, edits, and approves employee announcements. Oversight of intranet and internal social media activities.
    7. Partners with CEO, COO, CNE, and other C-Suite leaders to draft and edit communications plans, staff communications, CEO town halls, CNE town halls, etc. to elevate the voice and vision of C-Suite leaders.
    8. Manage-, train, and evaluate assigned team members to include social media and content specialist, PR and communications coordinator, internal communications staff/freelancers, etc. Trains and evaluates staff to enhance performance, development and results. Addresses performance issues. Motivates and rewards employees.
    9. Responsible for the strategic planning and execution of external communications programs that inform and engage community members, patients, B2B partners, and other key stakeholders. Communicates frequently and clearly with a focus on improving brand preference and generating revenue.
    10. Designs and executes communications programs to promote Bayhealth’s brand and its people through local media, regional publications, social media, local associations, regional events, etc. Identifies opportunities for media outreach, social media content, and media response.
    11. Acts as an official spokesperson for Bayhealth with local and regional media. Guides the responses to local media inquiries. Prepares spokespersons for interviews.
    12. Supports reputation management activities by anticipating and identifying risks to Bayhealth’s brand. Develops effective issues management and crisis communications plans.
    13. Oversees the planning and execution of all external communications activities including public relations, media relations, executive communications, brand storytelling, thought leadership, health and wellness blogs, social media content, videography, etc.
    14. Consistently evaluates the effectiveness of external communications efforts and develops necessary plans and programs to increase engagement.
    15. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.


    REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:

    • Education Bachelor Degree
      English
      Or Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related study.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Required: Five (5) years’ work experience with communications, executive communications, media relations and/or internal communications work, and at least 2 years in healthcare environment or related field. Experience leading a team of employees to be highly engaged and productive.

    Preferred: Seven (7) years’ work experience with communications, executive communications, thought leadership, media relations, and/or internal communications work, and at least 3 years in healthcare environment or related field.


    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:

    • Education Master Degree
      Marketing & Management
      Or Master’s Degree in Communications, Strategic Communications, or related study.
