    PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

    SAP Design is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers: we care deeply about the people who use our products. The SAP Design team plays an integral part in gathering insights about the attitudes, emotions, and behaviors of people who use our products to inspire and inform design. We collaborate closely with each other and with engineering and product management to create industry-leading products that deliver value for the people who use them, and for SAP’s businesses.

     

    The Director of UX Strategy & Communications is a quick, strategic, storyteller and creative thinker with demonstrated success in translating broad concepts and ideas into clear, multi-channel communications. You also possess an outstanding executive presence and comfort with senior executives; experience collaborating with C-Suite leadership, and superb written, digital, and verbal communication skills bring disparate audiences together around an inspiring story and compelling message. This role will be the voice of SAP Design and Design leadership.

     

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Formulate internal and external communications strategy that supports the organization’s needs and translate strategy into plan that leverages mix of communications tactics
    • Review and evaluate C/VP communications requests and engagement opportunities to determine appropriate format/content and manage deliverables end-to-end with key stakeholders and project teams
    • Build predictable and structured communication rhythm and approach (AMAs, all hands, internal emails etc.) and manage the pulse on the team to understand where there may be communication gaps and/or needs
    • Work closely with CDO and other executives to deliver content for key external audiences ensuring successful outcomes that align with their style and voice in internal/external communications
    • Measure the outcome of each engagement to understand impact and make adjustments as needed
    • Drive and partner with SAP PR on important news announcements and thought leadership stories for coverage in top tier technology, business, general news, and trade press
    • Collaborate with teams inside the organization and our business partners to gather data and content for internal communications and external presentations
    • Develop communications best practices; nurture a community of Product Design storytellers
    • Drive curriculum and content strategy based on prioritization of top Product Design communication skills that require further development
    • Develop content and deliver training to evolve and improve Product Design communication skills

     

    WORK EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • 10 years’ experience in executive, technical, and corporate communications, including public relations or marketing communications
    • Creative and analytical thinker with ability to craft strategic and succinct communications in an executive environment
    • Broad communications strategy and execution expertise, e.g., ability to synthesize complex and disparate inputs from variety of materials into simple and compelling communications across variety of mediums (email, social, presentation, script, video etc.)
    • Good eye for graphic design across multi-media creative such as PowerPoint, video, etc., ensuring high-quality in all communication deliverables
    • Ability to develop communications training programs that scale across large organization
    • Strong cross-group collaboration skills and ability to drive coordination across variety of levels and stakeholders 
    • Business maturity and experience working with senior executives
    • Ability to work independently but seek guidance, coaching, and assistance from both direct leadership and executives as needed
    • Experience managing a portfolio of resources that span a broad communications mix (web, email, newsletters, events, internal tools)
    • Proven leadership and coaching experience that fosters an environment of inclusion, problem solving, and attracts/retains superior talent
    • Ability to work within a deadline-driven environment and manage multiple complex tasks
    • Passion for bringing simplicity and continuous improvement to all aspects of work
