Additionally, Communications Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Communications Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Communications Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Director, Communications will oversee the development and implementation of IEHP’s communication strategies. Areas of responsibility will include:

    • Marketing communications
    • Public relations, media relations, crisis communications
    • Member communications
    • Social media
    • Website content 
    • Internal communications

    Under the direction of the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, the Director, Communications will maintain a consistent and compelling brand voice across all channels and will be responsible for building, leading, and growing a high performing, collaborative team that generates measurable results that align with the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategy. 

    The Director, Communications will establish, monitor, and regularly report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that exceed best practices in the industry with possessing a strong combination of strategic thinking, leadership, communication expertise, and proven success in driving effective internal and external communication.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or other relevant field from an accredited institution required.
    • A minimum of seven (7) years of communications experience with demonstrated skills and knowledge in the creation and execution of communications activities.
    • At least three (3) or more years of leadership/management experience required with building, mentoring, and coaching a team of communications professionals.

    Key Qualifications

    • Must have a valid California Driver's License.
    • Expert knowledge of marketing communications principles and best practices. Strong knowledge of editing and writing for a variety of audiences and channels. Working knowledge of AP Style, print publications, social media and web content strategy.
