Commodity Manager implements a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports a company's manufacturing supply chain. Manages the policies and processes to purchase raw materials required to process and manufacture products, conduct research, or enable other business activities. Being a Commodity Manager monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers and develops relationships to provide reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Additionally, Commodity Manager oversees bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Commodity Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Commodity Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Responsibilities
The Indirect Commodity Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for the critical role of strategic sourcing products and services to ensure IGT's partners with best-in-class suppliers. This role will be accountable for spend across the Global organization in order to meet IGT’s annual savings goals. The Purchasing Specialist will also own the development of initial commodity strategies, supplier relationships, and monitoring and maintaining the implemented strategy on an ongoing basis.
- Leverage current and future business requirements, market intelligence, and historical spend to develop innovative Commodity strategies that drive cost reduction, enterprise consistency, and business value.
- Build commodity sourcing strategies that aligns to overall Lines of Business’ strategy.
- Oversee commodity strategy implementation activities to deliver the expected business value.
- Provide Commodity specific subject matter expertise and insights to internal clients and regular status updates of all projects to leadership.
- Identify business enablement opportunities and provide Commodity related insights and recommendations through published commodity plans and sourcing calendars.
- Develop internal stakeholder relationships and lead cross functional teams that execute IGT’s Sourcing strategy.
- Adhere to Commodity metrics and savings targets, monitor performance, and communicate these to stakeholders.
- Create a Commodity specific initiative pipeline that will forecast and direct procurement projects and sourcing activities.
- Maintain expertise in various Commodities through relationships with sourcing teams, business units, suppliers, market experts, and global/regional liaisons. Know and apply value chain and value stream concepts.
- Work with internal risk and compliance groups to ensure Commodity strategies account for relevant laws, regulations, and risk policies. Act as change agent and advocate for procurement as a value-added function.
- Develop and lead cross functional teams to execute on strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 2-5 years of category management, procurement, or purchasing experience.
- Demonstrated history of innovative thinking, connecting ideas, events, and circumstances to devise commodity management solutions for business challenges or objectives.
- Skilled in change adoption, change management, and resource assessment.
- Collaborative in ideas and approach in sourcing and working successfully as part of a team.
- Applies flexible approaches to achieving commodity management results in dynamic situations.
- Ability to work independently.
- Energetic and self-motivated.
- Strong analytical and financial skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Project, and Excel.

At IGT, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $65,000 - $75,000. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses . In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance. Note: programs are subject to eligibility requirements.
