Commodity Manager implements a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports a company's manufacturing supply chain. Manages the policies and processes to purchase raw materials required to process and manufacture products, conduct research, or enable other business activities. Being a Commodity Manager monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers and develops relationships to provide reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Additionally, Commodity Manager oversees bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Commodity Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Commodity Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The position will be responsible for selecting, developing and evaluating vendors/suppliers based on price, quality, logistics, capacity and performance; negotiating prices and terms with suppliers; and actively looking for ways to reduce costs while securing the best parts and services for the assembly of our products.

    Responsibilities:

    * Strategic purchasing of assigned commodities and coordinate with supply chain or quality for commodities such as supplier performance evaluation, value analysis, and serving as a primary liaison between internal and external stakeholders.

    * Analyze Atlas Copco's product specifications and inventory needs in an effort to develop supply strategies for materials, achieve optimal costs, quality standards, and efficiency, as it is related to logistics, and delivery schedules.

    * Procure parts and components for production needs in accordance with the Atlas Copco forecast and production plan, or related to the new product development projects.

    * Develop suppliers to meet Atlas Copco standards based on the Business Code of Practice as it relates to safety, the environment and purchasing terms

    * Develop a strong network of vendors who can deliver zero defect parts and components at competitive prices and ensure that such parts and components comply with Atlas Copco product engineering and product specifications.

    * Evaluate existing and potential suppliers using Atlas Copco procedures and standards to determine the supplier's financial stability, technical capabilities, quality, logistics performance, and cost structure.

    * Achieve targets in the area of yearly reduction of total cost.

    * Consult with existing and possible new suppliers to offer suggestions on improvements regarding total cost to the internal stakeholder

    * Negotiate prices and terms with vendors and when appropriate sign a supply agreement to cover mutual interests.

    What we expect of you?

    Experience Requirements:

    * Demonstrated expertise in the areas of procurement systems and supply chain processes

    * Demonstrated ability to negotiate prices and terms

    * Ability to read blueprints is a plus

    * 2 years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment.

    Knowledge

    * Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and quality standards is a plus

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint

    * Experience working with mainframe systems such as BPCS and/or AS400 is a plus

    Educational Requirements

    * Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, or Business, with two (2) years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment

    * Occasional travel to visit existing or potential suppliers may be required.

    * High-energy performer who is willing to put in the extra effort needed to meet the demands of the job
