Commodity Manager implements a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports a company's manufacturing supply chain. Manages the policies and processes to purchase raw materials required to process and manufacture products, conduct research, or enable other business activities. Being a Commodity Manager monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers and develops relationships to provide reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Additionally, Commodity Manager oversees bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Commodity Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Commodity Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Summary:
    Responsible for leading and developing commodity strategies, commodity practices, systems and metrics. Develops and directs commodity teams and supply chain relationships.

    Responsibilities:
    • Mentor buyers and/or supply chain analysts in commodity strategies
    • Develop appropriate business relationships with key suppliers/sources
    • Work closely with the business units to support customer strategic and tactical material needs
    • Develop, communicate and manage commodity strategies to support overall divisional and corporate objectives
    • Supervise the strategic sourcing process for assigned commodities
    • Develop customer confidence in overall supply chain management through customer interaction
    • May provide planning and coordination with corporate quote and quoting activities
    • Drive and secure continuous improvements and cost reductions
    • Coordinate supplier scorecard activities and facilitate business reviews, as applicable
    • May participate in supplier and component qualifications and issues
    • Act as point of escalation for component issues, as appropriate
    • Identify and implement contract and agreement compliance
    • Review supplier proposals and lead negotiations promoting Benchmark’s goals in price, delivery, terms, liability and quality
    • Establish contractual agreements between the company and external sources of supply; Negotiate to obtain agreement on pricing, terms, delivery and other terms
    • Monitor and report on component market trends
    • All employees are responsible for the Quality of their work to ensure BEI meets, or exceeds Customer Satisfaction.

    • 8 years of experience in commodity purchasing; Experience in large volume, more complex commodities, Individual contributor
    • Demonstrate expertise in negotiation, implementation and maintenance of supplier contracts and other business dealings
    • Demonstrate strong financial understanding, risk analysis ability, relationship building and project management
    • Demonstrate the ability to analyze, develop and implement process improvements
    • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with coworkers, suppliers and customers
    • Demonstrate mastery of planning and the ability to organize and manage multiple projects

    • Demonstrate confidentiality
