Commodity Manager implements a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports a company's manufacturing supply chain. Manages the policies and processes to purchase raw materials required to process and manufacture products, conduct research, or enable other business activities. Being a Commodity Manager monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers and develops relationships to provide reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Additionally, Commodity Manager oversees bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Commodity Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Commodity Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Global Commodity Leader – Indirect Sourcing

  • The Global Commodity Leader (GCL) is the sourcing leader for assigned commodities and is responsible for managing relationships between internal clients and external vendors and acquiring services from vendors. In this role, you will use your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and long-term business goals.

    Current has a steep history in lighting products, including conventional and LED lamps, power supplies, LED fixtures and indoor and outdoor advanced lighting controls.

     Essential Functions/ Responsibilities: 

    • Serve as Global Commodity Leader for assigned categories including Information Technology, Engineering Technology and Professional Services, or other indirect categories as business needs evolve.
    • Create and lead the commodity strategy and ensure compliance with the strategy.
    • Lead vendor selection, qualification, development, and overall management, including handling the entire contract life cycle from RFP to vendor exit.
    • Identify savings opportunity for the commodity, including cost reduction and demand management.
    • Negotiate with vendors to obtain the best financial results for the company, including initial investment and future financial commitments.
    • Negotiate agreements (including MSAs, JDAs and NDAs) with vendors, with support of the legal department.
    • Negotiate commercial terms of Statement of Work and license agreements including Service Levels, deliverables, payment terms and risk to the company.
    • Upload agreements into Contract Management system and monitor that system to proactively negotiate renewals or issue cancellation notices.
    • Meet regularly with stakeholders and functional leadership to understand their needs and how to support, and to provide regular updates on key projects.
    • Lead vendor communication to ensure best leverage and clarity both internally and externally. 
    • Closely monitor vendor performance to plan and work with the vendors to manage any required recovery plans/actions. Help to resolve vendor performance problems and other issues.
    • Establish a repeatable process to maintain accurate master data in SAP.
    • Schedule and conduct regular business reviews with vendors as needed.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
    • At least 3 years of experience in Indirect Commodity Management or Sourcing 
    • Strategic negotiator and presenter with excellent verbal and written communication skills for various audience level 
    • Experience writing and negotiating contracts, especially for IT software and professional services
    • Experience with SAP (preferred) or other ERP tools, and Microsoft Excel for analysis
    • Legal authorization to work in the US

    Compensation

    The position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more.  This salary range is $85,000-$115,000.
